Here’s the dope for this Friday Saturday at Thompson
- It’s going to be hot Friday, hotter Saturday. Go to Market Basket, Shaw’s, Trader Joes whatever and buy a case maybe two of water bottles to bring. Fill a big cooler with them. Plan to drink a lot. Plan to hand one to your neighbor in the paddock when he/she comes off the track, before they even get out of the car. If we all watch out for each other we’ll all have a better time, and maybe make a new friend.
- This event is fully booked. This means we need your cooperation to get everyone registered and Teched in the short hour we have. Please set your alarm early and arrive early, and come to tech with your car and yourself ready. Read the rule book to see what’s expected, and or ask your instructor ahead of the event for some pointers. If you are late to tech, you will probably miss some track time.
- The garages are at capacity (rented from COM directly for this event.) There is a waiting list. If you want to be added to this list or have requested a garage and are not going to make the event, please contact the Chief of Garages Scott Rosnick (scott.rosnick@gmail.com) ASAP.
- The first four garage spots (next to the classroom) are reserved for COM staff. Tech may run through one of those bays, keep an ear out for any announcements.
- Keep an eye on the COM app for updates throughout the event....turn your notifications on.
- Entry on Thursday evening is between 5 and 9. There is another organization using the track on Thursday so you may be allowed in before 5 but have to wait before entering the paddock. After 9, the gate may be locked but if you wait there with your lights on the security patrol will come for you eventually and let you in. The registrar may or may not be doing a short session, so be prepared to register in the morning if he is not around. Tech Might be available as well if Nelson can make it Thursday night, but do not expect it to be so.
- Camping is allowed both Thursday and Friday nights. No hook-ups, restrooms will be open. Showers are available in the building at the oval track Other side of the bridge. You can camp in your trailer, or pitch a tent on any grass in the paddock area inside the track. Small grills and portable firepits are allowed. Bring the large bottle of DEET.
- Garages will be open at 6:00 AM. Check your entry email for registration and tech times. Registration is in the classroom, tech generally runs thru the first 2 bays of the garage starting at 7.
- Sound must be limited to less than 103 db. If you are black flagged for sound, you get one chance to fix it. No refunds for failing sound. No race engines may be started before 8AM.
- No smoking in the garages or hot pits. No fueling in the garage. - No electric cords across vehicle pathways. There are a bunch of other common-sense rules written into our contract that I’m not going to repeat here. Use your head please.
- A Dunkin Donuts van will be at the track from 7:30AM to about 11:00 AM with coffee and food. The food concession will be open 11:00AM to 4:00PM for your dining pleasure.
- The Thompson Club restaurant will be open until 9:00 PM. If you plan to go after the track closes, please go around to the other parking location so they can close and lock the main gate. There is a great ice cream stand there as well.
- If you have a camera outside the car with a suction cup mount, you are required bby the track to have an additional steel cable lanyard to keep the camera with the car should the suction cup fail.
- Gas is available 24/7, credit card/debit card only. Please do not block access to the gas pumps as others may be waiting.
- Pets must be leashed, and please keep track of your children, cars will be moving all over the paddock.
- Travel around the garages is counter clock wise, keep the garages on the left.
- An ATM is available in the Pro Shop. The Pro shop will be open generally 8-4 Friday, chance Saturday.
- Operation of drones is prohibited on TSMP property.
- Your RFID timing cards should be on the PASSENGER side of your car; the timing antenna is at turn 5. See Jeff Wasilko for help with your Aim Solo setting for this if it’s your first time here with it.
If there are any questions, post them here and we will try to give timely responses.
See you there!

Tom,
Will there be an opportunity to walk/cycle the track on Thursday and/or Friday?

I expect so on Friday, not Thursday. Depends on how the day goes, which effects the mood of the track manager. He can decide to say no if he is cranky.
