84,212 miles, S54 engine and 5 speed manual transmission. Black Sapphire Metallic exterior (475) with Nappa M.Oregon Point/Beige E36 Sand interior (R3SN) and black soft top. Southern car (GA, TN) until I bought it in June 2014, never tracked, never in salt. Professionally maintained at Wile Motorsport in Walpole, MA.
In very good cosmetic and mechanical condition. Always expertly maintained. Within the last 200 miles: oil change with Castrol Edge Supercar (API SN) SAE 10w-60 synthetic, Mahle OX-187D oil filter, 13 72 1 730 449, air filter. At 73,993 miles: new tires: Bridgestone Pole Position S04 in 225/40-17 and 245/40-17 (80%+ tread currently remaining). At 51,258 miles: NKG #DCPR8EKP spark plugs. At 50,122 miles: the factory wheels - Style 40 in 17x7.5” and 17x9” - were refinished by Prince Wheel Service. Also at 50,122 the factory E30 rear suspension limitations were addressed at Wile Motorsport with adjustable rear control arms via the AKG rear camber and toe correction kit (#RTTC30F), H&R Sport springs (#29520) and Bilstein Sport struts (35-044048 , 35-044055). The car is stock aside from these suspension upgrades.
This car has a salvage title. The prior owner reported “when the car was new at the dealer someone ran over a parking barrier and the front spindle, inner fender and suspension were replaced”. Carfax shows this accident was on 4/21/02 while still owned by Nalley BMW in Decatur, GA and the salvage title was issued 9/10/02. My postpurchase inspection by an independent shop reported the repairs consistent with the prior owner’s report were completed properly with OEM parts and the car aligned true. It was also apparent that the damage from that event was not nearly enough to total the car when new, leaving speculation as to why the dealer got a check for a total.
Vin WBSCL934X1LJ80670, production date: 8/30/01, total S54 roadster production: 1549 (this is model years 2001, 2002); MSRP $45,990. Total in this color: 32 (2.1%), 25 with black top. Options: cruise control (S540A) , BMW business RDS (S658A) and Soft top - black (S388A).
