iRacing Hardware: Show us what you got

Post by iamrazor » Mon Jul 30, 2018 9:38 am

Putting some thought into going iRacing. Before making any purchases I'd like to know what CPU / wheel / pedals you are using.

1. Do I need to go with Fanatec stuff? Seems a bit pricey to me

2. What hardware specs is the computer you use? I read clockspeed is more important than # of cores. Any truth to that?

We have a group of COM members that run a series in iRacing. At the moment, we are running every other Wednesday evening. Please join us.

You don't need Fanatec. You can run a cheap logitech setup, or a fancy Fanatec, just like you can track a beat civic, or a new Porsche. One will arguably provide a better experience for you.

I'll let someone else reply about the computer stuff. I got everything i use used - Wheel, pedals, computer, etc.

I had a geek friend build me one off of one he had laying around with a i7 core already in it. He gave me a good deal for it. This is my machine and I can run it at max setting iirc.

Intel i7 4790 Quad-Core 3.6GHz
Taisol 2 ball bearing CPU fan and cooler
HyperX Fury 16GB RAM (4GB x 4)
512 GB SSD + Seagate Barracuda Pro 1TB 7200 RPM HDD
GeForce GTX 1060 3GB Graphics Card
Intel N-7260 Dual Band Wireless Card
Windows 10 64-Bit Professional Addition

I run a Logitec G27 used setup from Chad Fox and built the frame to house it with an old race seat. Works well.

I think you probably want to add monitors to the spec list.
