Clockwise at Palmer
Clockwise at Palmer
Hi all,
Are there any plans for COM to run the clockwise direction at Palmer? I ran this configuration a few weeks ago with another club, and it was fantastic. Dare I say the track flows better in this direction!!
Best,
Jim

Re: Clockwise at Palmer
There are other considerations that need to be worked out, like how we can get 18 run groups to finish a COM TT on time. The CW config presents some interesting challenges that the CCW config addresses nicely.

Hard right into the pits after Start/Finish

Car behind you is still on the clock and has almost caught you. What then?

We've all see the Fast and the Furious.
I don't have the wisdom of the organizers, but it seems to me to be a similar situation to any track where we can pull off just after start/finish. Palmer CCW, NHMS, WGI, etc.
Have the checkered flag guy hold a yellow flag ready to wave it if this happens.

Could we move the timing gear closer to turn 1 to give more space to slow down after crossing the line?

Re: Clockwise at Palmer
Curious - how would folks feel about timing from CCW T2 ~apex? Not sure we're going to be able to convince Fred and Chris to move their jersey barriers to allow 90 deg entry into the pits from the front straight. Entering at CCW pit-in also creates challenges as we'd likely be sending cars from there, and it gets a little cozy at the beginning (CCW) or end (CW), particularly given the cars entering the pits would be pulling a U turn on a relatively narrow track.

Re: Clockwise at Palmer
We could just run it like we did the first year it opened, one warm up lap, three hot laps and one cool down lap. It worked the first year we did Palmer. It also just worked at Mt. Tremblant, a slightly longer track than Palmer.
