Laura Fleming

Post by Bobc » Tue Jul 03, 2018 8:04 am

I wanted to let everyone know our friend Laura Fleming aka “SBB” is now in the fight for her life she was admitted to Brigham and Womens Hospital on Friday night she has a very large tumor in her chest.
They do not have the full pathology back but it is not operable it has encompasses her right lung her has attachment to her chest wall and is occluding her superior vena cava it is also pushing on her aorta. Most likely this is a string cell sarcoma, which is similar to what she had in 2016. The pathology should be back in a day or 2 then they can start working on a plan to hopefully shrink it with radiation or Chemo.
They have her intubated and sedated in MICU. FYI she walked in to the ER Friday night the mass of tumor closed the air way to her right lung shortly thereafter. I has been a rough few days for her they did not think she would make it thru the intubation due to pressure on her SVC but she is TOUGH and made it thru just fine.
It is almost unimaginable that 2 weeks ago Monday she was in her race car in 90+ degree heat turning 1:17’s at Thompson and today she is fighting for her life…… her only complaint over the last week was her rib hurt we both though it was the broken one from Watkins or maybe some muscle pain due to the injury and the race seat just irritated it. The mass was first found on a chest x-ray Monday for the rib pain.
They do not allow visitors or flowers.
She is in need of a miracle so all we can ask is for you to pray for her.

Bob

Probably like many of you, Laura's situation makes me feel powerless to help, but prayer is action and it does help. Let's take a minute to focus on Laura in the coming days and give her our strength.

Laura is one of the most relentless and tenacious drivers I know. She has a competitive spirit that is contagious.....and she is seriously tough.

Bob, please let Laura know that her friends here at COM are thinking of her and stand ready to assist in any way if needed.

All

I’ve been in touch with Bob on a regular basis. Laura’s hanging tough as we’d all expect. She’s got a team of doctors and nurses working the problem hard, and leaving no stone unturned. Bob will post an update when there are results of this full court press to share. He’s very appreciative , as is Laura , of all the thoughts and prayers. Keep’em coming please.
