Rules classification for a newb

Hi there, been into cars forever but I've been a drag racer my whole life. I'm sick of going straight though and want to turn now :wink: . Here's my question though, I'm trying to decide which would be best for me to do. I have two cars I could use, one could be ready shortly and the other would require more work, I'm just wondering a few things.

First off, the car that is about ready is an 87 firebird hardtop car. The car is my daily driver. Problem is I have 2000 corvette ZO6 brakes in the front. These required some slight spindle mods and a bracket to attach the calipers. I also have the matching vette wheels using spacers in the front and a fourth gen camaro (two inches wider than my stock third gen) rear so I don't need spacers in the rear. If I'm reading the rules right then this would put me in street prepared correct? I'd hate to have to cage this car as it's my daily driver. I've lived with a caged car before on the street and really don't feel like doing it to this one. On top of all that the car has the stock carb'ed 305/700R4 auto so it wouldn't be even remotely close to competitive.

Second car, also an 87 firebird, but, a t-top car. It was an old project I started on years ago but never got around to finishing. This car my fiance and I have discussed turning into a dedicated race car. My question though, it already has a rear end/suspension from an 86 corvette (yes, IRS) 3/4 of the way mounted. If I'm reading things right though this would still put me in the same class as my brake swap on the other car? If that's the case then this car is becoming the race mule and the other car will stay on the street. I'm also just checking to make sure the IRS swap doesn't upclass me or put me in class limbo. It's just this car will require a LOT more work and money to see the track and I was hoping to make LRP in november as well as hit up some of the early events next season. If I'm reading everything right though I'd hate to have to cage my daily for one or two track events before I finish the race car...
