camping @ NHIS?

Post by iamrazor » Sat Sep 09, 2006 8:56 am

Has anyone ever camped out in the infield @ NHIS during COM? I've seen a some people do it and I'm hoping someone will chime in here. I may have a camper for 10/21 and wonder if there are any fees? Who do I contact for a spot? What hookups are there?

Thanks....

Im pretty sure there is power. I dont think there are any fees but i could be wrong.

The only thing that you might want to figure out is if your camper will fit through the tunnel. and to get there before the track closes which is about 9 or 10 the night before.

Camping is free, there are plenty of electric hookups (up to 30 amp) through out the infield and paddock, and the tunnel is big enough to get a tractor trailer through.

To get into the in-field you must first register with COMSCC.

COMSCC registration (located at the Main Gate) will be open Friday evening from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Garage rental will also be available at the same time.

If you arrive at 9:01 PM you will be too late and the track staff will not allow you into the in-field.

Mark ;
How can we get in to camp after 9:00?
I have to work until 6:00 than go home and leave for NHIS, this usually puts me at the gate about 10:00. I am about a 3 hours away from NHIS, if I leave in the morning I am too fatigued by 1:00 to drive saftley. Remember I am not a young man. NHIS will let me stay in the gate parking area but there is no bathrooms or electricity, and my heater will kill the camper battery quick with out being plugged in.

The Red Roof Inn is only $59 for the night, pull in there on Friday. That's my plan.

Dan, why don't you ask you boss that you have to leave early that day.

1; Why would I spend $59- for the Red Roof Inn when my car hauler is a fully self contained camper with heat, shower, hot and cold water , stove, fridge , etc. . But every thing works much better off of AC than off of the battery.

2. Very funny Jonathanabout asking the boss to leave early ... I have a very demanading boss -- actually several thousand of them, the better job I do for my bosses the more they expect me to work and the more I work the more bosses I get. . Don't get me wrong , I love my bosses , but I never can tell exactly when I can leave work. Sometimes I plan on leaving early and I just can get out on time. I've had some of the same bosses for over thirty years , so they kind of expect me to be at work. ( you can substitute the word customer for boss)

3: Again; How can I get into NHIS after 9:00 on Friday night ? I will also be two new members with me and my Miata (sorry Scott) and my Mustang (happy Scott) :?

I am sorry to say it, but you cannot get into NHIS after 9pm. Please do try to get there before 9pm.

arex: I'll be there in the new camper. Do you know if the paddock spots have water + power or just water OR power? What about the infield spots?

The camper area has power. You will have on-foot access to the infield area, namely the bathroom which has water.

There is also water in the camping area of the infield. A least there was two years ago when I stayed in the camping area. Usually I camp on the black top of the paddock area. There is only electric there.
