CARAVAN to CTMP-Mosport, Ontario, Canada

Post by StephanAlfa » Fri Jul 29, 2016 2:36 pm

Can't wait to get going to Mosport!!!

Want to start this trend and see if there's anyone joining the "caravan" on our way to Mosport.
I plan to leave Sunday August 28 so that it puts my arrival time at the track on/about 3 PMish

Been a while since I caravan ... what channel did we use to set com communications during the trip? what is 5???

Pitch in with your comments and let's see if we can make this happen. This applies to both driving and hauling.

Also up for a caravan. I think last year our group found the Rosnick/Cannon crew on the pike and rolled about 15 trucks/trailers deep for at least 75 miles. Not sure the others on the road were amused, but we were "keeping pace" so I wasn't too concerned...

We rocked CB radios last year. Far more reliable than the handhelds and range was great.

We are likely going to drive to The Edge on Saturday and then depart from there on Sunday morning. It'll be our first long trip in the new truck/trailer (other than our 2000 mile trek to pick it up).

Just curious: can CB frequency and walkie talkie be the same?

Not generally. Handhelds (FRS/GMRS) are in the 462 MHz range and CB radio is in the 26-27MHz range

I expect to stay in Watertown on the way up and back. I cant drive the entire way in one day. I was planning on staying at Hilton Garden Inn at Watertown on saturday might and the night that we leave ( tuesday night i think). I am interested in caravaning with anyone who wants to do the same.

A nice hotel--it's been a regular stop for COM folks on the way home from CTMP for years. Lots of truck/trailer parking.

It's 4-5 hours away from CTMP.

I'm in for a meet-up along Masspike on Sunday morning. Meeting at Charlton Westbound rest area there about 8 should put us in Mosport about 5, depending on stops and border wait.

The truck race has been moved to the next weekend, so we should be able to drop trailer Sunday night at track without much trouble.
