Mosport Video

Post by imgon » Wed Sep 02, 2015 8:24 pm

I'll start....

Just after the crash I thought I had come in too hot and power-slid off the track. Upon review of the video, the rear end steps out and I didn't react quick enough to save it. In looking at previous passes through this corner, RPM's and speed seem similar. What do the pro's think? Was I a little too aggressive with the throttle and caused some wheel spin or was it that I drifted off line and got into the marbles? Awesome track, just requires a lot of respect and patience.

Ouch. Sorry about your misfortune. I'm no pro but I will say I never release the wheel like that to correct..ever. Whatever caused the oversteer condition (too tight on the inner curb unsettled the car?) it looks like an overcorrection, and it snaps back into the grass. I always have a pretty firm hand (or two) on the wheel no matter what. Just my opinion

Check the rear trailing arm bushings. I drove Jamie's car once and it was so loose I couldn't believe it. Turned out there was a loose bolt (trailing arm or control arm- I can't remember).

"Dammit!"
Well said.
Sorry Chuck, you looked so comfortable and relaxed.
I'm also guilty of releasing the wheel sometimes for a quick correction, but that sure overcompensated very quickly. I agree that you may have acted a just little late in the process.
Need parts? I've got a front fender and a door if you need them.

My 2 cents..

Just before you approached the apex, you gave a small steering input that started the car sliding slightly in what looks like the perfect trajectory. Then, after passing the apex, it looks like you felt you were running out of road and gave a second small steering input. That's when the tail jumps out. The rest is explained in the posts above.
