Impressions from the Ross Bentley Seminar..

Great turn out both days. I thought the interaction was continuous, and I learned a lot. Ross is a true professional, never spoke down, and was very sharp with his wit.

The thing that impressed me the most was his memory. Someone in the back of the room would mention something, He would get the name of the person and topic, mention that we would be covering the material later in the presentation, then not mention it for the next three hours whilst going through his script. Then, without hesitation whatsoever, recall the name and the topic the person wanted discussed, point to that person and make eye contact. I think this was one of the things that helped keep folks engaged for what were two very long days covering a ton of material.

I'm not sure how many people noticed this trait, but he was pretty much bang on with every name, and even with items or topics that were mentioned in passing associated with those names. This is an extremely difficult skill to learn and develop, and I struggle with it all the time.

I am really glad I went. I have a lot to work on.

I did notice that, Troy. I guess once you've been 220 mph in an Indycar- you tend to be pretty sharp with everything you do...except recycle.
I am so glad I went- especially yesterday. I feel like I pressed the reset button on instructing- with a lot of new techniques to work with.

Ross is a professional driver/instructor/coach. His presentation and memory/retention skills are impeccable. My big take-away is his emphasis on the mental game; his superior abilities prove that a strong mental game is important both on and off the track.

I learned a lot from Ross, and so much more from listening to the comments, questions, and input from drivers and instructors whom attended.

These 2 days upped the game for a lot of us. I'm eager to get back on-track, and to put together similar events & meetings in the future.

I went to see him in 2005 or thereabouts at BMW of Peabody and to this day I still do cross-crawls in my car on grid before every race. I need to read some of his books all over again.
