Rules Change Proposals

Post by blindsidefive0 » Mon Oct 13, 2014 10:26 am

With the NHMS finale wrapping-up as the leaves turn, it's "rules season"! Have a suggestion on how to make the rules better? Submit a rules proposal on the COMSCC registration site: https://comscc.carclubreg.com/comscc/Ru ... quest.aspx

Rules proposals will be accepted any time until the November BOD meeting, Wednesday, November 19th.

Keep in mind that any rules proposal should include the actual text for how the new rule(s) should read. Well drafted proposals that are backed-up with solid rationale will be strongly considered. Sloppy drafting of rules proposals, broad sweeping "concepts" or changes that are not fully defined, or drastic yet unjustified changes are unlikely to be implemented.

Good Example:
Old Rule Text: "Non-factory Trim Widgets: 2 points"
New Rule Text:
"Non-factory Trim Widgets of a different material: 2 points"
"Non-factory Trim Widgets of the same material: 0 points"
Rationale - modified widgets, even of a different design than stock, do not improve performance unless they are of a different material (e.g. carbon fiber or aluminum widgets). For example...

Bad Example:
Old Rule Text:
New Rule Text: "subarus need way more points" they are to dam fast

Keep in mind that the COMSCC Board of Directors, literally unpaid volunteers, will review and vote on all rule proposals. We are not mind-readers - if possible, it helps to be present at the November BOD meeting in case there are any clarifications regarding your submitted proposal. More importantly, the rule change proposal itself should be clear regarding the suggested change, how to update the rulebook, and why it's important.

Reach out to rules@comscc.org with any questions.

I have a proposed rule change on tire sizes, before I submit it, do I include the rationale in the lower box in the form for "New Rule Text"?

Dan

Yes please. Anything you can add to the form by way of rationale, precedents, why it's a good or bad idea is welcome.
