Pocono videos- 2014

Post by wizzman » Wed Aug 20, 2014 11:03 pm

I put the date to distinguish this thread from the video threads for future Pocono events that NEED to happen. This was a great circuit, great facility and its closer than the Glen.

These are my TT times on flipped NT01s:

Lap 1- 1:41.33
Lap 2- 1:40.67
Lap 3- 1:40.08

That's a whole lotta asphalt! Transitions look a bit rough..but that banked oval turn sure looks like fun.. flat out. I can see why Butch got FTD..he was probably doing 180 in that souped up Silverado!.. :D :sunny:

Pocono turn one at 129-130 flat out in the Vette Is a blast HUGE pucker factor the track was great, the flagers were great very good, track time was awesome (thanks to every one who stayed home) we could not even run every available lap and we used about 80 gal of fuel between us.
the only rough spot was turn 12 onto the back straght and that was not bad. the course was a challange with a ton of shifting that Laura and I had a ball with.
The tow while shorter than the Glen (6.5 hrs) due to construction it was a bit of a rough haul with the semi some long rough hills but that being said we would go back in a second..

Had a blast there and the bumps at turn 12 and 2 were not as bad as I had heard . I can also say that I did not expect FTT for sure but now I can say I was the fastest truck of the day  Yes the drive to and from was a bit of a pain but still the track was more than worth it..... :D Was glad so many stayed home it gave the rest of us some much track time we all could not use it........

Now can some buddy please give me some help on uploading my TT video because I can not get it to work it is a very different view..

The Glen is and probably will be one of my favorite tracks. ..... but Pocono is right up there. Some traffic going down brought us to about 7 hours.... but once I was on the track, I was hooked. With a long straight and carring the speed on the banked oval with the ZO6 it was a fn rush. As Bob said... thanks to all that stayed home, plenty of track time for us. Unfortunately it was a small group so the club took a hit. We need to have more particpation if the club will return. I hope we do go back, I know it will be a lot more fun the second time around. I vote YES to return.

Telemetry isn't spot on - still learning Race Render and Race Studio 2; my AIM may have a logging issue, though the data looks ok when viewed directly in Race Studio.

phpBB [video]

~2:06 start of fastest TT lap (lap #1, start/finish in the video doesn't match the TT)
4:41 learning to drive stick
6:35/6:46 turbo boooooooost! (bad data from the AIM)

I've run Pocano several times in my FF. The course shown above and also the one with the full oval turn on the other side.Wish I had video of the event that included practice in the morning fog. Back then we just drew pictures in the dirt with a stick.

The fog got so bad that you had to brake before you could actually see the turn down off the oval. I was amazed that a driver's timing gets good enough to know when to brake without really seeing anything. During the next practice the track was shut down, but not before my co-driver got lost on the course and drove into the paddock at speed. He knew something was wrong when he saw a persons knees fly by his field of view...

Thanks Butch.Yes,an interesting angle..you do all left foot braking..something I should try more often..looks like with some taller gearing you could have knocked another second off those times...
That track sure is open..great for viewing! :D :sunny:

Mick thanks for that and I will have to try to with what I have for Thompson   Mark that is what I think to that there is 2 seconds anyway and yes I do all my braking left foot but it also helps that the tranny is a dog box and it is easy to shift
