Clarification - Spherical Bearings

We received a request for a clarification from a competitor regarding spherical bearings. Specifically, how many points, and which points, should be assessed for changing from stock rubber bushings (e.g. control arm bushing) to spherical bearings?

There are 2 rules in the rule book that seemed to be of at least some relevance:
1 - Added Spherical joints (does not apply to dampers/end-links/Non-Factory Trim watts link or panhard bar)
1 - Non-Factory Trim suspension bushings of a different material than Factory Trim

The team was again split on this clarification - some felt that the only literal interpretation would include both points, where others felt that a plain reading of "added spherical joints" doesn't apply from a bushing to bearing swap.

The call is that spherical bearings should take 1 point: "non-factory trim suspension bushings of a different material than Factory Trim".
"Added Spherical joints" does not need to be applied to spherical bearings.

the term spherical bearing should not be used at all . a spherical bearing is a heim joint only .
this wording should be metallic bearings . this would cover all types of bearings made of metal .
it is common to also use roller type bearings for control arm pickup points so just the wording of spherical bearing all no doubt leave out all other types of bearing that are used .
some of my cars do not have spherical bearing a all but use roller bearing so the wording in the rules would not apply to me and my cars .
so I would not be taking points for spherical bearing as I do not use them .


should be
2 points for the uses of metallic type bearings on suspension pickup points .

1 point for some thing like polyoxymethylene (delrin ) or polyurethane for suspension pick up points .

though delrin is a brand name and not the true name of the polymer known as polyoxymethylene .

even though polyoxymethylene is a better bushing as it's a more dense polymer then polyurethane they still have a slight deflection to them were metallic bearing will have non at all .
