carbotech

Post by 962porsche » Tue Aug 05, 2014 11:22 am

right now I'm looking into becoming a carbotech dealer .
what I was thinking is to offer comscc members the dealer discount on brake pads and rotors .
that is the more we will buy the bigger discount we all will get .

this is how it works .

1st order , discount , annual sales needed
$500.00 , 15% , $1200.00
$2500.00 , 20% , $5K
$3500.00 , 23% , $8K
$5000.00 , 26% , $12K
$7500.00 , 28% , $20K

I own the business for the store front carbotech wants a dealer to have .
I also have to get a web site as I have been thinking about one any way that is not a big deal .

does any one in comscc have any interest in some thing like this ?
if not I will just be doing the 500 dollars for the 15% discount my self and just sell carbotech my self .

I am VERY disappointed with Carbotech making their pads available only through a "dealer". I liked buying direct from the factory; just click and ship. I prefer their product over others, and will buy through a "dealer", but I don't understand why they eliminated the direct buying option.

it was to cut there costs and to not cut the throats of the dealers they are setting up so I was told .

I was set up as a dealer some years ago but I did not meet there sales minimum when I went to work for Paul newman so they dropped me .
I need new pads and rotors for the gay Ferrari 2 (Miata) as the last event I used just stock replacement napa pads and not only were the brakes just total crap but I eat up the pads in two days . but that's what you get for 13 dollars pads from napa .

as it is right now even when I buy carbotech pads for customers cars I'm paying full price or the same as the customer can buy them for .
I have no reason to sell customer pads with out making any thing on parts after all shops get or should get some thing off list price .
I can buy hawk pads at 10 % off list but not carbotech as I'm not a dealer for them .

I think it maybe a smart idea to buy pads this way ?
we all use them up and if we all can get them at a savings I think it may be a good thing .

depending on the pricing, I might be interested. Saferacer already offers a discount and free shipping.

I order from Saferacer as well using the SCCA discount plus free shipping , plus you earn discount points with them, which can be applied to the next order I never figured out the total discount, so like Jeff --depends on the price--but would rather spend money with a local person/fellow club member.

your missing the point !
you would not be spending the money with or to me !
you would be buying the brake pads and rotors at dealer cost and nothing more .
so it would not matter what your buying them for now as your not paying dealer cost you are now paying a mark up .
so if I set this up you will be paying what safe racer and other dealer would be buying them for and nothing more .
I'm not looking to start some business selling brake pads .

so shipping and deals your getting now from places like that would not matter as in a sense COMSCC members would be the dealer .

but because comscc does not have a store front I am willing to use my shop as the store front and address for the dealer .

if you go to the 1st post I did on here you will see what deal pricing is and how they work it at carbotech for dealer . it's the same as buying race tires in bulk .

if you want to call me I could explain it to you in person better . my number is david at 203 407 1708 days

I think this would be a good deal but not knowing the retail price makes it difficult to evaluate. What is 20% off the pads I usually buy? Will that be as good or better than any other source? By my estimate you need to sell 100+ axles (50 cars) worth of pads a year to get to the top discount. As far a delivery is concerned, picking them up at an event is acceptable to me.

I am light on pads and might only be good for one set per year.

if you look at what carbotech takes off list price and sells the parts to the dealers for you will see it max discount would be 28% .
no one could sell you carbotech pads for 50% off the parts . if they did they would be paying for the parts them self's .
looking at the paper work carbotech sent me with LIST prices . the most any one is giving off list is 5% .
right now if I setup a account with carbotech they call the jobber it's 15% off list .
so not getting any one else on board with this I will be getting the pads for less then the 5% any other place is giving off . that right there is saving for me of a extra 10% .

shipping what does it cost to ship a set of pads ????? USPS has this thing were if it fits it ships for 5 dollars . even UPS would only cost 12 dollars . or you could pick them up at a event ?

You can start with brake pads and then move up to a Miata dealership for the club. :)

I just filled out the paper work for the jobber thing carbotech has .
I was thinking others would want to come on board so all of us could get even a bigger savings on brake needs .
it will take about two weeks for them to ok every thing for me .
my 1st order is over the 500 dollars they want and I can do the 1200. dollars ez with annual sales .
for the 1993 Miata it's 128.75 for the front XP-12 pads 103.95 for the rear XP-8 pads my cost from carbotech .
once my account is approved they will send me two sets of rears and three set of fronts .

as for a Miata dealer .
there was a time not long ago I was buying allot of salvage cars for there parts .
the guy that rents a building across the lot from me bitched to the town because I don't have a license to sell salvage parts so I had to have the cars removed .
the guys building burned down so he will be moving some time soon and then I will start buying salvage cars again . salvage Miata parts sell real quickly then again so do the RX parts too .
another good seller strange as it may seam is Volvo S60R and V70R parts . they sell down to a bare shell in 3 to 4 weeks .

when I looked at the list prices from carbotech I stated that shipping was not free .
it's very common for businesses to jack up the price a little then say if you spend over 100 dollars shipping is free .
then they say they will sell it for a discount too .
when I checked the list pricing right from carbotech the most off is 5% .
even paying for shipping from carbotech to my door with just the 15% off list I'm still making out much better then the best pricing I found from other carbotech dealers on line .
no one seamed to want to come on board so I said screw it .
I will open the account thru my own business using my own tax ID .
