THE tire tail

Yes, you read that correctly. THE tire tail. This has cycled through several COM members and I'd like to continue the tradition. I live in southern NH and work in Wakefield, MA for meet / pick up.

I have a Hard Dog R1 hitch receiver that could go with this. See: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4745

Anyone looking to bring a second set of wheels/tires to the track without going full trailer can use this. It slides into any receiver style hitch. Comes with all hardware too.

This photo is not my car, but a perfect representation of it.

I bought this from Jason (GTF) and drove it to every event in 2011:

Nice!
But I have questions:
An avg tire weights about 40 lbs. 40 lbs x 4 = 160 lbs + weight of the tire tail and you are borderline max tongue weight (depending on hitch class you have) and stress on the hitch and mounting points.
Comments?

As an impartial comment - I've used Tire tail on my NB for about 8 years. If I didn't have to lighten the autocross car significantly, I'd still be using it today. Life without it is _really_ hard in comparison. BTW, I've used it with DaLan hitch (which, I assume is Curtis now). Not sure what the tongue rating was but it held up OK for 8 years of 80-mile roundtrips to Fort Devens.

I also used a Tire Tail for about 6 years. Drove to Lime Rock, 175 miles and NHMS,50 miles. Never a had a problem. :)
It's a great way to get started using track tires. :sunny:
