Tremblant fuel?

Post by gread » Sat Jul 22, 2006 1:45 pm

Does anyone know what fuel is available at Tremblant? Has anybody brought fuel over the border wtih them? I figure 90 people at Tremblant = 100 gallons of race fuel. :D

I don't recall having seen race fuel sold at any event I've been to up there; there's a crappy gas station about a mile from the track that we usually hit, I think they only have a max of 94 octane, though. Will your drum 'o fuel not make it thru the border you think?

I recall there being 95 octane at the local gas station in the old part of town just 1/4 mile from our track entrance.

I'm told that you may be required to pay duty of fuel brought in, but I crossed border on the way to Mosport with 20 gallons and was never asked. YMMV

Crossed into Canada several time per year for the past 5 years. Only once was asked to pay duty on a 5 gallon jug of fuel. NooB agent on the border crossing going into Canada. Went to pay and the officer basically laughed and asked why we were there, paid the couple of dollars and left. No big deal.

I dont recall any fuel at the track, we filled jugs at the local gas station last year.

Lee didnt Mark and someone else get nabbed going into Canada and had to go pay duty on thier full fuel cans (I had 2 full cans too but they didnt say anything.

Yep,,,was Mark who got bagged. The cost of the fuel the F250 burned while idling the the parking lot was greater that the duty Mark had to pay on his fuel. Go figure.

Thanks guys, 95 octane won't be enough and I'll gladly pay a duty on my witches brew of fuel. 8)

I know this is a very old thread that I have searched but, from what I have read, you can bring your own race fuel but may or may not have to pay duty to across to Canada?

Yup, depends on if you get caught by an uptight agent. I usually put the gas cans in the car. When asked if I'm bring fuel into the country I say "just what's in the car sir" If pressed I think you can tell them that it's for off road use only and they'll likely let you pass.

Greg, I brought a drum of race fuel into Canada three times last year. I was never asked anything about fuel at the crossing. I did have it listed in my trailer inventory and was prepared to tell them it was for off road use and to pay a duty if that didn't work. Make sure you take a bill of sale or title for the car, that is more likely to be asked for when coming back than anything about fuel.
