so i got a email from a friend saying saab is going in to production again .
so i googled it and found NEVS bought saab and are now starting to build them again .

i'm not knocking them !
i have owned many 900 turbos , 900S's and 900's .
i was not a fan of them untill i bought one for cheap and drove the hell out of the car and it still kept going and going .
my 1st car i rallied was a 900S it was a tank but it never broke . i tore the right rear suspension off the car and still drove it into service .

Same with the Volvos. The 122S was insanely comfortable and, try as I might, I couldn't break mine! The first generation V70...same thing, although I was past abusing cars by then - good for 300K as long as you're willing to do the occasional component replacement or refresh. The second generation V70 was not a keeper, though - don't know if it had anything to do with Ford or not, but there were too many $2K issues just waiting to happen.

years ago when i worked for newman on his race team he only had about 20 hours of work a week for us so to get my hours in i would work as the painter in his body shop . it was a small shop with only 2 people so there was not much work going thru the body shop but it was for his volvo and mazda dealer . i was not a fan of volvos at 1st but after a short time i became a fan of the cars .
when the FIA out lawed the V70R from the turing car because it was to fast it kind of tells you some thing and when the 5 cylinder S60R kicks ass on vetts and other true sports car in the world challange GT class it kind of also tells you a little some thing more that they are doing some right !

Given that the Pobst/Figge cars are GTs, I doubt seriously there's much or any Volvo left in them. It's extremely cool watching them beat up on the thundering herd. They basically own Mid-Ohio - I watched Figge once on a restart there, and I was dead certain he'd jumped because he had an instant four car-length adavantage. The second gen V70 I had was an R. I gave it a tune and a downpipe/exhaust & it put out 282/274 on a Mustang AWD dyno. At Lime Rock, it would run 135 on the straight in street trim minus 200# of interior junk. I had instructors then, and they didn't like it.
Nope, haven't noticed that one. Her car is that dusty red they turn after sitting outdoors for enough time, and it's a sedan. I think she's up around 250K on it now, and has no plans to let it go. There's a Saab shop at the bottom of the hill in Milford, so she can probably keep it going indefinitely.chaos4NH wrote:Is her car the strange yellow/green convertible???
That "strange yellow/green" color Saab used was not very appealing - the color of bile fluid is just not a good idea if you're selling cars to Americans. The Swedes are unusual that way, too - bright, bold colors, excepting the yellow in their flag, are not always popular. A Swede told me that he couldn't understand why anyone would buy a red car. Definitely not a country where you see red.
