Re: Calabogie Videos
Finally got to downloading my TT video. Unfortunately the BFG R1's where completely cycled out so I was 2-3 seconds off where I was hoping to be but still a major improvement from my last time here as a complete novice.

I hope COM is able to schedule a Calabogie event for next year. Watching these videos is a tease, looks like a real challenge to learn the track. Looking forward to the Glen.

Thanks Steve! Those were some good laps, if I recall correctly 2.38s with a passenger (Dave W).MiataSteve wrote:a couple of laps with Paul G

Yes, thanks for not posting your videos you have following me on day 1.escortracer wrote:Paul from what saw you cleaned up your line nicely.
And thanks a bunch for the help. I think sometimes I overthink all the technical stuff. When I just go out there and do what feels somewhat correct I end up being pretty close to correct.

It would be nice if they put a coating of asphalt over the stones!

Nice video. How are you getting steering, throttle, and brakes data?

OBD-II cars have varying amounts of data available on the port. Most have RPM's and throttle, only some have steering and brake pressure. The Aim Solo logs the data along with the GPS signal for later analysis.xms651 wrote: Nice video. How are you getting steering, throttle, and brakes data?
It's useful for seeing if you were as smooth as you though you were - usually not!

No, the steering is a traditional hydraulic rack.John F wrote: Do you have electric steering on the Z Chris?
The new Infiniti Q50 has steer by wire (no steering column at all), and frankly that just gives me the willies thinking about the potential problems.

Every car with "Active Handling" or "StabiliTrak" or other version of government mandated electronic safety shit has a steering angle sensor to guess which direction the driver wants the car to go when the car gets sideways. Some manufacturers make this reading available on the OBDII, some don't.

Or you can just move the camera back and watch the actual steering wheelChrispy wrote:OBD-II cars have varying amounts of data available on the port. ..."government mandated electronic safety shit"... Amen Bert! The more driver "aids"..the closer we become to being nothing more than passengers. Progress!

I heard on AutoLine Detroit that people are already planning ways to steal autonomous cars by hacking into them and directing them to leave home in the middle of the night and drive themselves directly to the chop shop. Wouldn't that be WONDERFUL!breakaway500 wrote:..."government mandated electronic safety shit"... Amen Bert! The more driver "aids"..the closer we become to being nothing more than passengers.
