speed tv

Post by 962porsche » Sun Aug 18, 2013 12:00 pm

so i go turn on the tube and see there is no linger speed tv it is now fox sports 1 and 2 .
over the years speed has been going down hill with more BS nascar crap , barrett jackson , two guys garage , and the show about towing what the hell is that ? and less and less real racing like wrc , wtcc and so on you know racing . .
when speed 1st came on tv it was great just what us racers were missing a tv channel that showed racing .
corporate steps in and from there run it into the ground to the point were they would show monster truck racing and other shows that racer don't watch .
they get ride of WRC and in it's place they have a towing show .
this year F1 is now on nbcsports and WRC has been on MAVtv so we are just right back in the same place were there is no tv channels just for us racers .
would it be great if we could see goodwood , hillclimbs , rallying , sports car racing on one channel with out have to deal with cage boxing , foot ball and other crap mixxed in .

just venting !

Speed channel has been going into the crapper the last few years...and what coverage they have mostly stinks; 5 minutes of racing and 10 minutes of commercials, including commercials for Speed tv! I don't know how many times I'm watching the last few laps of a close race, and they cut to a commercial...and then show you some "highlights" of what you missed...while you were watching some guy rub testosterone on his armpits,so he can be a better umpire..! :? But now I digress.. 8) A better way to see a race is to attend...and even better,a participant! :D :sunny:

the program directors of speed have or had no idea at all of what racing and racers wanted to watch on TV .
they start to show less and less racing and start showing more unique whips , pimp my ride , towing , build offs (i don't even remember the name of that show ) for what ratings . i don't think shows like that will bring up ratings as there are no fans of pimp my ride that follow it like a fan of racing will follow a racing series will .
when f1 is on i make it a point to watch the race the same goes for WC , wrc , alms and so on i follow the series .
i think most race fans do the same thing and make it a point to watch the races were no one will make it a point to watch unique whips .

If you don't think there's a market for Monster Trucks and Pass Time, go to Wallmart and look around.

pass time was not to bad of a show but little kids like monster trucks so i could see thoughs shows but in prime time hours what was there to watch ?
total crap !
when it comes to watching trucks i would rather see the daker series or (BITD )desert racing than monster jam .

I agree that the speed channel has been declining over the past few years, but it was better than nothing. Now there is nothing. I got home from work last night and was hoping catch the weekend results on speed center, and there was MMA fighting. Out of frustratration for some light tv, I turned on duck dynasty. I think I'll be watching it more, those guys are really funny. Oh well RIP speed.tv

I get that SPEED is now Fox Sports 1 , what is FS2? Hopefully not some online video. I'd rather watch racing on my big screen from my recliner than sit in a fairly uncomfortable chair looking at a 22" moniter.

So is Speed channel completely gone? I flipped through my hundred+ station guide (I don't subscribe to all of them) and did not even see Speed offered any longer on Charter. Pretty pathetic when they drop the only station I watched with any regularity... Maybe I'll look into Direct tv. Problem is Charter has the best internet in my area and you can't get just the internet service without it "bundled" with tv service.

Here's the e-mail I got (I use cable):

Channel Update: FOX Sports 1 Replacing SPEED

Coming Soon: FOX Sports 1
Beginning August 17th, FOX will replace SPEED with FOX Sports 1, America's new 24-hour sports network featuring original programming, news, highlights and live coverage of sporting events including:
■ NASCAR
■ UFC
■ College Football
■ College Basketball
■ World Class Soccer and more

This new network will be included as part of your current XFINITY® TV subscription, available in the same channel location currently occupied by SPEED.

yes speed is NO MORE !
it's now fox sports 1 and 2 i wanted to watch speed the other day and a little box came up on a black screen telling me to speed is now fox sports 1 . when i changed channels there was boxing on so i went to fox sports 2 and they had hockey on .

at my shop i have direct tv and at the house there is comcast .
i like direct tv more than comcast it does nave some down sides to it from time to time like bad weather . i lost the signel once because to dish was covered with snow and it will go out some times for a minute in heavy rain but it always comes right back on . but the good about it is more channels for the same price as comcast .
there is a new channel called MAV TV they show the WRC and off road racing that i watch .
NBCSPORTS is also ok because they show F1 and some road racing like world challenge .
there is the BBCA top gear and spike tv with power block tv but with power block i'm more into checking out courtney hansen's ta ta's than shows like trucks .

what i don't have for channels at home is bbca and tcm i love old black and white movies so i tend to watch them at the shop . like sunday night i went to the shop because one of my old time favorite movies is the great race and it was on tcm .

if any one is looking to get direct tv email or call me i will give you my account number you and i will get 10 dollars of the bill every month the more poeples accounts you have the more they take off the bill every month .

so we are right back in the begining with no channels for racers about racing .

One of my pet-peeves with SPEED was that I couldn't get it in HD (Comcast). Same deal now with FS1. Do I cancel my "sports package" that costs $10/month in protest of less racing on TV or suck it up and continue to pay? Looks like they're still showing Continental Tire races and I watch some of the NASCAR stuff since I play in a fantasy league for 9 months a year.

I watch all of the Australian Super V8 series on line for $34 a year. Full races with no commercials. Gives me my race fixes and I can also re-watch them if I want. The sad part is that they are trying so hard to be like NASCAR (because it does pay) that the racing is going down and the pit work is going up. At least they limit their tires.

On the plus side I can now drop the package with the former SpeedTV and save a few bucks on the cable bill. Damm Fox.

my cousin said the same thing but you know dam well they will change the line up so you still will nave to pay the same thing every month . the cable CO's will not stand for to long with people dropping extra service because speed is not longer on tv.

as for on line racing shows there are some real good sites for that . the down side is the only tv i have set up for that is at my GF's house . so i can't bring the tv that's at the shop out into the work area and watch a race when i'm working on some thing like i do/did when the 24 hours of le man's is on or 24 hours at daytona or sebring and on and on .
