Open test this Friday

Post by sdcham1 » Sun Aug 04, 2013 9:59 pm

Thinking about going to open test this Friday anyone else going? Also been a couple of years since I have gone. Anyone know how much they are charging?

In April, I paid $150 for the full day. IIRC, it's $100 for a half day.

Pretty sure I'll be there - probably a half day.

It's $150 for the day; morning sessions are usually pretty empty. Please don't be brave/stupid and come without a full safety cage. Most attendees are racers. We'll be there with 3-4 LTD Miatas parked on the other side of the fence behind the NASCAR winner's podium. Stop by to say hi: I'm in the green #7 parked near Wasilko's new whip.

Thanks all for the advice. It's been awhile since doing an open test day. Hope to see you all Friday

Remember that there aren't point-bys, so always keep an eye on your mirrors and stay inside the blend line coming out of the pits through T2 (track staff is anal about that). Flaggers are limited so you really need to pay attention all day long.

Come park over by us if you want some company. I've got a dark grey Dodge Ram and my buddy is driving an old black Chevy dually with a black cap and enclosed trailer behind it. We'll be up against the fence close to the TV tower, behind victory circle. We're arriving Thursday evening.

And open passing really is 'open'. Be prepared to be passed after the checker or on your out lap.

^^^Exactly (Pete says it as if it's a sin  ). The racing bunch shows up for test days, not the track day crowd. Come prepared.
