Death at Le-Circuit Mont Tremblant
Not sure if anybody heard but there was a death at Tremblant yesterday. It is the first death in 42 years there. Not sure of the details but I heard it happened at turn 6. Does anybody know any details? Sad sad news.

I heard it was 39 year old guy from Canada driving a 911 GT 3.
He apparently lost control exiting Turn 6 during a "lapping" day.

Agreed. I thought turn 6 is where turn 7 was on the map but apparently it was in 6. Not sure what happened.

If you get off around the exit of 6, I'd imagine the impact on the nearby Armco would be very violent.

That is just terrible. I wonder if they had wet conditions? If I remember correctly,the track can be pretty slippery there in the rain.

i dont know what happened on track, if it was a broken part or a driver mistake
only thing i know is that he was wearing an hans device, rollcage and bucket seat. but not an halo seat.
his neck broke on the side due to the impact of the car.. so probably the halo seat would have save him. (assuming here)
his wife was there for the weekend, they were leaving for his 40e anniversary on monday just after the track weekend...
Dave, I was on track with him when it happened. This was a race day bit it was practice lapping in the AM. Car was a mess but I have seen worse with no injuries. Driver's door opened without a problem. No intrusion into the cockpit. Harness. seat and Hans all fine. This should not happen!!! Turn six in a GT3 like his is over 100 MPH and we all consider it as a nothing corner - a big fast sweeper. First fatal crash here in 35 years.
One of his friends is a ER doc, she attended him and he was already gone. Shit!!! It serves as a reminder that there is a danger factor in what we do even if it was only lapping. The nearest car was about 100 yard ahead, it was a single car accident which SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED INJURY MUCH LESS DEATH.

Hearing about this accident is making me consider a left and ride side cage net (mandatory equipment in grand am).

Very sorry to hear about the death .... That is the main reason I would never own a han's it does not have anything to hold your head from side impact...Mine is a NecksGen and your helmet rests on the head restraint

it makes no differents what head and neck restraint system you have there is good and bad about all safety gear .
this guys death is all over the 3 porsche forums i'm on and a friend that ran with comscc a hand full of times was at the event were this guy got killed .
it seams he screwed up with his drving and just lost it in trun 6 .
race and track driving can kill you real quick and ez we all know this every time we latch our belts and roll out onto the track .
look at what happend to Allan Simonsen in this years Le Mans 24 hour he had all the best safety gear and was still killed .
racing and track driving is dangerous you should buy the best gear you can to protect your self but the sad fact is it's still doesn't gearinty any thing will not happen to you .

Yes you are right and for the same money I got the better of the 2 and am gratefully I did with the crash I had last summer and I do know that if I had gone with the other it would not have turned out as good as it did for me

HANS, halo seat and head nets here. Guy driving a FV was killed at LRP a few weeks ago while the SCCA was there.

I'm all for using the best safety equipment available,however,I'm also of the belief when it is your time to go,nothing will "save" you...
