Car Numbers

Post by dtlemoine » Mon May 13, 2013 3:00 pm

Any folks have experience with magnetic numbers? I'd like to purchase something that saves time and a quarter roll of masking tape before each event, but don't want a permanent solution (daily driven car). Any particular brands/websites that folks have had luck with?

Obviously looking for something that won't fly off just before the braking zone for the bus stop at the Glen...

The solid one-piece square magnet sheets seem to stick the best, keep the undersides clean and store them completely flat. Forget individual magnetic numbers as those will fly right off unless in perfect condition.

I don't use them anymore since the current car has aluminum doors and none of the other panels are flat enough.

You could also consider re usable vinyl numbers ( although more expensive than Magnetics)

Home Depot has magnetic sheets. Go to the heating/ducting section and look for vent covers. Some Home Depots (but not most) will have big numbers as well in the hardware section. Staples has numbers if you can't find them at Home Depot.

Dave,

I have some white faced magnetic panels with stick on numbers. The number is 68 (or 89) and would need to be peeled off to make your number....but you can have the panels if you want them. I'm pretty sure I still have the class panels if you want those too.

any sign shop will have the magnetic material. Get the thicker type as magnetic properties are higher. Also I round off the corners so the wind has less to grab onto.
