car claasification
It's been awhile, but this year I plan on attending the events. Question is what car classification would be:
1978 Malibu, 350/465 Hp, headers, 4 speed, 3:73 rear, Rear disc brakes, 16 iches tires. Thanks Tim

Re: car claasification
Depending on other modifications, you fit into PA, SPA or one of the Touring classes. PA - anything goes and requires a 4pt roll hoop, fire suit, and a window net/arm restraints. SPA requires stock frame and subframes, DOT tires, stock fenders, and it must be a street car (needs a passenger seat, carpet, windows, wipers, lights, dash etc.) Touring is based on power to weight and how much you've modified the car to make it faster.
We haven't had to do a base class assessment for a Malibu yet. Hopefully Nick will chime in with your base/showroom assessment.

The car has glass, carpet, lights , wipers, could be registered for the road. It does have a roll bar and racing seat in front and a back seat. I will try to fill out the classification form COM provides. Thanks

Don't forget that since you are new to COM, you will be assigned an instructor until you get your COM license. This will require similar seat and belts for the right seat as for the driver.

I have a COM license, but haven't been to the events in couple years. I will be installing a passenger seat as I would appreiciate any instructor help to sharpen my driving skills. Thanks

I'm excited to see some more good old American muscle at the events! My first car was a hand-me-down '77 Chevy Nova with a 305 V8 2bbl. Had alot of fun with that car. - Paul G.abcracing wrote:Question is what car classification would be:
