Torque for n/a cam bearing caps?

Post by Shawn624 » Mon Apr 08, 2013 6:55 pm

Anybody have a reliable source for the torque spec for n/a cam bearing caps? I'm seeing 100-125 ft/lbs but that doesn't seem right for the bolts I'm looking at.

Are we talking na as in 1.6 liter Miata. The factory manual call for 100-126 INCH-pounds, not foot pounds.

Guess it's time to by the manual. I'm glad I didn't put 100 ft/lbs on those bolts.

Yup. It's inch-lbs. I can't recall what I was reading that had it written in lb-ft inches or something weird.

Buy a service manual. It walks you through pretty much every part change you'll ever need to make on the car, with torque specs for every single bolt. It's inch pounds for the cam caps.

I like that most postings on these forums don't even have to specify that the car in question is a Miata :D

"NA" or "NB" is all we need to know what's being discussed :sunny:
