I've stayed in Winchester, VA before. Looking at the Courtyard. Lots of other choices there, too. Looks like 15 miles to the track.

I always liked the Knight's Inn because it was cheap, clean, and you can watch the horse racing from your balcony.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Inwood last year. Its about 11 mile away but there are some restaurants and a supermarket right near there.

I don't have a recommendation, but I can say that you should avoid the Towne House Motor Lodge in Charles Town.

I stayed at the Knight's Inn when I did my SCCA school down there 5 years ago. It's a cheap dump but is walking distance to a Ruby Tuesday's for apres/dinner.

I've stayed at a lot of different places, Martinsburg is by far the easiest to get to (from I81 south) and has several hotels and big box stores (Lowes, Autozone) but is ~25 minutes from the track, Winchester VA is a nice (historic) town and has a mall but you have to drive further (south/west) to get there, Ronson and Charles Town are the closest but are sketchy and IMO have no decent hotels (excluding the B&B on Summit Pt road, their room rates will make you gag).

Inwood has a grocery store, auto parts and gas stations, if it has a Hampton Inn it must be relatively new or I would have stayed there, it is probably the best bet.

Just an fyi, a couple club racers had stuff stolen from their tow rigs while parked overnite in a hotel lot, in Winchester.

Towne Place Suites in Winchester was fine last year. Restaurants & supermarket are close by, and the track is twenty minutes away.

After years of staying at the Knight Inn, I can't bring myself to return there. The cool kids (or so I heard) are staying on the other side of town (Winchester).

There's a Hampton Inn that I've stayed at before, and there is also a Marriott. Satellite pictures indicate that there is a lot of parking/grass/runoff at the Marriott, if you are worried about trailer parking. Neither the Knight's inn or the Hampton could fit a tow vehicle + trailer, if I recall correctly.
