Scales at NHMS?

Post by Mick » Tue Mar 26, 2013 7:38 pm

Anyone know if the scales will be available at NHMS? ...or does the club own a set now that classing is partly based on weight?

Good question.
Scales should be available at NHMS but the first official event is Summit Point and I have no clue what they have there.

We were allowed to use the scales at NHMS during the last 2012 event. Not sure if that is the norm or not.
I've heard stories of using truck scales at the weigh stations too, but never tried.

We've seen a 35# swing with the NHMS scales between race weekends. One weekend everybody was way overweight, a month later we were all borderline illegally light.

Cy: Does SCCA bring their own scales or use the track ones at NHMS?

SCCA uses the NHMS scales and ensures they are calibrated within six weeks of the event. I couple of years ago I was nabbed for underweight after a race and won a protest (and retained the trophy) because they had NOT calibrated within the GCR-defined maximum time.

Good to know about the scales and i am wondering if any one has a db meter that will be set up so some of us will know what we may have to do for any of the events that have a db max.

Thanks Butch

Anyone with a Smart Phone can download any number of free db meter apps.

I am Chief of Sound for SCCA and do all their races at NHMS and LRP.I have a Sound Level Meter.
I could do sound readings/tests at April 12 Test and Tune. However, a time would have to be set aside for those that want readings. Can this be done?...during lunch or end of day.
I set up just after Turn 10, drivers right when cars are at or close max RPM.
If management wants to do this let me know and we can work out the details.
