Looks like it's time for an OEM muffler.

Why, do they have a strict sound limit there?

My experience at an event last year is described here, including the track's noise limit, along with the frustration I had trying to meet it (mostly because I was sure I had it handled, didn't, and it cost me a chunk of change to find out): viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4039&start=23. I swore I'd never go back.

To answer your question directly: yes, they totally mean business with their 92dB limit. I was told last year that the measuring device's output is automatically sent to the local police station, and track control receives a call from the police when it registers too high. Even if that's true, control likely isn't waiting on the police before black-flagging the offender.

The backstory is that the track's owner, Lawrence Stroll, of Tommy Hilfiger success & fame, has rubbed the town the wrong way, they wish to make his life difficult, and sound restrictions are one way to do that. Lime Rock in the Laurentians?

The sound limit is indeed strictly policed. There are several locations where they can measure sound from, and they use more than one of them each day. offenders are black-flagged. Either second or third time in, they pull your fun-ticket for the day.

A memorable moment for me was the morning of one of our events, a few years back. I forget the car, it was a nice piece of American iron, I think a 'cuda. The car was started in the paddock and shut off as I walked by. I yelled over to the owner 'hey, is that thing going to make sound?!'. His response was along the lines of "Oh yeah, its going to make SOUND!". Clearly misinterpreting my question. He was surprised to hear about the sound limit. He was black-flagged but was coming in on his own anyway, I believe he had an oiling issue.

So, yes, bring your quiet exhaust, super trap, and rosary beads. Some Miatas and S2000's have been called in for sound before (not mine!).

It wasn't the 'Cuda. Only place I ever had a problem with sound was Lime Rock. In my opinion, MT is the best track the club ever ran on. Beautiful track that rewards ballsey driving ('Cuda broke an outside wheel once going over the top of turn 1), a great bartender to hang out with (Nino), and a strip club down the street
