As I've gone through this tool I'm finding some conflicting info that I want to clarify so that I'm not taking too many points for things that have a corresponding "0" point that sounds very similar.
Which option in the new rules classification needs to be checked if you're using a piggy back system with your ECU?
A reprogrammed factor trim ECU or Non-Factory trim ECU?
In both cases I'm still using my factory ECU, just using the piggyback to modify the chip in the same way someone might flash a chip. Seems the "Non-factory trim ECU" is for stand-alone units, while a piggyback is really more of a reprogrammed ecu.
Another question unrelated to engines - where does a brake bias valve go on the classifications tool - into the non-factory brake line option?
Lastly, in suspension there are the 2 following options:
Non-factory trim suspension bushings of a different material than factory - 1 point
Non-factory trim non-metallic bushings (i.e., polyurethane) - 0 point
Using polyurethane that's not stock on your car seems to meet both of the above - I'm assuming I can take the "0" point and move on, and that the one option with 1 point is for metallic bushings? Seems a little confusion so if the 1 point is intended for people using solid bushing materials, it should be more bluntly stated.

Re: Classification Tool Questions
Good questions. I took points for my piggyback and polly bushings.
A piggyback really is the equivalent of having a chip flashed. I don't know about your setup but for me it only modifies the fuel map. I have no control over spark.

Re: Classification Tool Questions
Did you mark it as a non-stock ecu, or modified ecu? There's a point difference and if I have to take that point, I end up moving from T60 to T70. I'm right at the highest point value of T60, so any changes I make could push me up a level at least for now, I'm happy staying in T60.

Regarding the pickyback ECU you might want to get a scrutineer ruling on that but from my perspective it works more like a reflash than a replacement ECU in the sense that it is modifying the stock signal data but is not a standalone ECU replacement.
Regarding the brake bias valve, there is no penalty.
For the bushings this was a change for the final rules, the members and board were pretty split on this one. In the end it was decided to assign the 1 point to all non-stock bushing materials, so yes, polyurethane gets assigned a point. In the previous distribution the point was only for metallic. Sorry for the confusion, the line mentioning non-metallic bushings was supposed to be struck.

Thanks. For now, I'm going to assume the piggy back is not a stand-alone system.Chrispy wrote:Regarding the pickyback ECU you might want to get a scrutineer ruling on that but from my perspective it works more like a reflash than a replacement ECU in the sense that it is modifying the stock signal data but is not a standalone ECU replacement.

Stinks that they decided urethane is a point over stock rubber - to be honest, I'm not sure its worth the point to put urethane in over new rubber - would rather put the point on tires, brakes or somewhere else where I'm going to get my points worth.
