Watkins Glen vintage GP + COM = a great long weekend

Post by Scooter70 » Mon Feb 11, 2013 10:03 pm

Hmmm.... I was just looking at the 2013 schedule for Watkins Glen.

US Vintage Grand Prix - Sept 6-8
COM - Sept 9-10

Sounds like a great way to make a long weekend in the Finger Lakes region to me. Anyone else?

During the past 2 years I attended both. This made for a fantastic vacation. I am planning on doing the same this year.
Here are my pics from the vintage event during the past two years (so people can see they would miss if the don't go):

Looking for recommendations for hotels/motels/inns for the COM event in Sept. 2013 at Watkins Glen. Would prefer to be close to the track (5 miles or less) if that is possible. Remember reading an article about one place that was close and had a restaurant/bar with a significant amount of F1 memorabilia but cannot recall the name.

Some recommendations from last year: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3979; and from 2010: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2941.

I would expect most hotels to be nearly booked up during the GP by now. You might find one with a cancellation.

sam this year just watch marks brake lights if your going to travel up there with him !
what mark should do this year is load his car with the rear wheels on the dolly that way when you run into him he can get the front bumper fixed and painted the right color of his car .
