i am really thinking of moving down to NC were my brother lives .
what tracks are down in that area ? clubs ? and so on .
From my house in Stokesdale, NC to:
- VIR -- 60 miles
Carolina Motorsports Park -- 160 miles
Summit Point -- 293 miles
Road Atlanta -- 295 miles
Atlanta Motorsports Park -- 325 miles
Mid Ohio -- 452 miles
NJMP -- 471 miles
I ended up joining the VIR Club. $3200 gets you 18 days on track including a free buffet lunch (stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon was on Saturday's buffet), a dual membership at NJMP, and access to every event at VIR for free. Generally the same guys each time so you know who you are running with. Most know how to drive well. Passengers allowed so you can ride in each others cars to see what they do or what the cars do. AMB transponder timing provided on days they host SpecRaceAtom events.

Having VIR that close is awesome. I want to do VIR and Road Atlanta more than any other track in the country I think.

Sigh.

I went down to watch ALMS' Petit Le Mans in 2011, and Road Atlanta looked like it would be one helluva ride; the trip up the hill through the esses looked especially fun. From the videos I've watched, the climbing esses at VIR also look like they'd be challenging.

I've heard that from more than one driver, and wish it was closer. Mid-O is the furthest I'm willing to tow from up here.

i have been looking at shops on line down in that area . from my brothers i takes me some thing like a hour and a half or so to get to VIR . he has an extra bed room i could stay in until i get settled in down there . years ago i did run some of the tracks you listed and liked them so it's just another plus for me to get the hell out of the north east winter crap .
right now it's 22 degrees out it's been so cold talk about shrinkage i have not seen my nuts sense the fall .

Everybody is different but I have heard from a pro driver his favorite is MoSport. Bruce, how many tracks have you done out of curiosity?
