Exactly like the Subject says, Andre Gomes took down the Skip Barber IndyCar Academy shootout at Sebring - congratulations!

It is also worth noting that both Andre, and the 2nd place competitor, Connor Clifford, were GT Academy 2011 Finalists.

Andre...if you're watching, do you care to comment and tell us what went down and what's next from here?

My friend, David Alpert finished 5th and I was following this based on his Facebook updates over the past couple of days. I had no idea Andre was even in the contest until he posted that Andre was the winner. What an awesome experience and opportunity, especially for already being in the GT Academy. Nick, why did you not go? I remember in the GT academy show, the instructors mentioned you were very good in the open wheeled cars.

I think you need to qualify from a regional Skippy school and actually apply and such? Either way, I'm really not trying to get into pro racing - frankly, at the time of GT Academy the "life" aspect of it would have been tough even with Nissan taking care of a bunch of stuff. Others like Sean, Andre, Connor, and others have pursued racing after GT Academy, but I just don't have the means (mostly time and "life freedom" with my condo, job, and marriage) to get it done. Finally, after seeing the uphill battle that Bryan (2011 GT Academy winner) still had even after his 24h race in Dubai just to fill his schedule and such, it's tough to justify for me.
