Not ill, just tallying up .. like YOU! :D
I am not saying anything more about Miata being girl car ...

What I wanted to say is back in '82 someone (Bob McGIll) wrote a great article entitled " Of Alfas and green-eyed women", and it relates to the jealousy women (mostly spouses) have of guys who owns an Alfa.
It goes on to say most cars for guys have strong names (Porsche, Dodge, Cobra, Viper) or phallic shapes ex: Porsche, old Jaguars (don't be offended... so do beer bottles ... and you drink from it... ) ... but Alfa is a feminine name, is gracious and good looking, gentle yet balanced and responsive.
Women hate Alfas because it has a feminine name... In my classroom I put a picture of "my 2,000 lb Italian girlfriend" ... something most of you don't have that "relationship" with you own cars by nature of them being "masculine". ANd also, while I owned several Alfas, it has always been an "affair" with them, something you cannot relate unless you own one or have own one (a few in the club have) and you begin to notice the change of the tone when talking about Alfas vs. other cars. Dan (Darcy), Nate (Hine), David (Foote), Kevin (Redden) can relate to that ...
It's a great article, well written. I have too look for this article again... maybe I will share ...

Aren't you sorry you asked !
it was such a girly car ! i tried to hide it with a stripe on the hood and aftermarket wheels but all that did was bring more attention to me driving the car ! the sad thing is that car was a fun car to drive and great on gas .

I lusted after that car in my younger days. I think it was from watching Peter Brock and Dick Johnson wheel that car around and dominate in the late 70's. There was also the spectacularly crappy version that had a 1.3L 56hp motor with 4-wheel drum brakes driven by folks in their 70's and 80's.
