2013 Rules - Touring Class Base Class List
Help us help you...we created a list of over 200 cars, years, makes, models, etc. We feel this was a good starting point and captures over 90% of the Touring Class cars in the club...but not all of them. Please post in this tread any additional cars that you would like to have added to the list - this could include kit cars, specialty cars, etc. (although please post spec sheets, etc. for those, and note that not all cars will be "classify-able"). We need the following information:
- Make
- Model (e.g. S4 Avant)
- Year Range (e.g. 1996-1999 e36's M3's were essentially identical)
- Factory listed HP
- Factory listed torque
- Factory listed curb weight
The other factor in classing the car is the "performance adjustment" - we will continue to use the CASC base car performance adjustment (they have almost 1000 cars classified), modified by a simple formula for our classifications. If the car is not on the list, we will find the most similar model for comparison. If you do not feel that an adjustment for a particular vehicle is appropriate, please provide rationale and documentation (e.g. classification of vehicle in other clubs, documented lap times by professional drivers, videos of that car getting pwn3d by lesser drivers, etc.); otherwise, see our Chief Instructor to request an instructor for the next event...just kidding.
Finally, let us know if there are any errors with the current list - year ranges, HP/TQ, or weight. If there are variances by body style, please provide all the info above. If you disagree with the performance adjustment... Seriously, if you really feel like something is off, do not turn this thread into a "but my old crapbox gets more points than that modern supercar" food fight - email me, and we can discuss it offline.
Version 1.1 is posted here: http://comscc.org/rules/2013-proposal/
Our goal is to get as complete of a list into Version 1.2, which is scheduled to be released 12/4/12. Accordingly, we need all requests in by the end of this month to make that happen.

Some of the cells are protected but that shouldn't prevent you from using it. I just downloaded it off the website and it is working fine here.

Re: 2013 Rules - Touring Class Base Class List
The class list provides the BMW Coupes but omits the Z3 Roadsters - is one to assume that the coupes of the same year are supposed to be used for roadsters, or should these be added? There are slight differences in weight.

Roadsters should be added - post the figures if you have them. FYI, Using the same method of classing that we've done with the original list, they will receive 1.7 points fewer on the performance assessment compared to the coupe.modifiede30 wrote:The class list provides the BMW Coupes but omits the Z3 Roadsters - is one to assume that the coupes of the same year are supposed to be used for roadsters, or should these be added? Re: 2013 Rules - Touring Class Base Class List
Nick, Not sure if you still had these suggested updates but here they are again. Where there was a US wagon brought in (avant) add 125 lbs to weight, all else same:
Audi S4 2.7 T 2000-2003 (not 98-01) weight and power/T are correct
Audi S4 V8 2004-2005.5 (not 2003-2005) 3850 lbs (not 3660lbs) is generally accepted US weight; power/T correct. Mine actually weighs 3915 on accurate scales with spare tire
Audi S4 V8 2005.5 - 2008 same car as above with "facelift" generally about 25lbs heavier so 3875lbs is safe, 3869 is close enough.
Audi S4 V6 supercharged 2009-up 3995lb (not 3637) and most weigh more like 4025 on scales. Power/T correct as in what is published Note of interest here that most of these make close to 325 hp at the wheels on a chassis dyno while on the same Dyno a S4 V8 makes 260 hp. I thing they underrate the HP to cut some European registration taxes, I bet they make 400hp at the crank; my theory anyhow.
Audi RS4 V8 2007-2008 3925lbs is probably safe for this one. I actually have one these days, haven't put it on the scales though. It tends to be a little heavier then the facelift S4 V8s because of the bigger brakes, and fender flares. 415hp and 325ftlb. Again you put this on a dyno and they make about 325hp at the wheels, same as S4 V6 supercharged. Poor normally aspirated motors.....
Thanks

Please visit the link below to view the current schedule for development of the 2013 rules package. Your board has added an additional board meeting this Tuesday night that will focus on the proposed touring classes and safety. When the job is finished we will hold a member vote by E Ballot to allow members to ratify the package should they so choose. As always: member feedback is encouraged. See schedule for details:

Oh yeah, 87-89 Toyota MR2 N/A
115bhp
110lbs tq
2350lbs curb weight
84 - 86 were 112hp and a incrementally lighter, however minor chassis/brake improvements 87+ made the difference moot
Cheers
