Invitation I just received for COMSCC members -

Post by Mark Swinehart » Tue Jun 27, 2006 2:18 pm

Laurie Jetts is a member of COMSCC plus he is the Track Operations Chair for the Northeast Region -- Porsche Club of America. He asked me to let COMSCC memebers know that there are still openings for two of their events at Mont Tremblant and at the Glen.

Below is part of an e-mail he just sent me.

In any case I just wanted to make my friends at COM aware that the Northeast region of the PCA has a couple of upcoming Drivers Education events that are (at this stage) somewhat undersubscribed and we would welcome anyone in good standing from COM to attend (E.G. they do not need to be PCA members -- COM membership is fine).

The 2 specific events that I am writing about occur at Mt Tremblant in a couple of weeks (July 10,11 & 12) directly following the Blues Festival, and at Watkins Glen on July 26 & 27. Details and registration can be found at our web site http://www.porschenet.com/TrackProg.html .

Unlike other PCA clubs, we at NER do not insist on vehicles being Porsches. In fact, we already have a couple of spec Miatas and several Subarus who run regularly with us. Probably the only restrictions we would place on any of the COM vehicles (that I've seen) is that we wouldn't allow an open wheel car and that any student's car (not yet COM licensed) would need 2 seats and equal restraints. Of course, all vehicles are required to be "tech inspected" prior to the event to meet our minimum safety standards.

Typically we try to ensure that everybody will get at least 90 - 120 minutes of track time per day running in 1 of 4 or 5 run groups of similar driving skill and speed and usually on our final day have a 60 to 90 minute "DE enduro" for the advanced run groups. I think I can safely say that you will find the club to be a welcoming and easy going group.

I would really appreciate your letting people know about these events and would be delighted to reciprocate at any time you find your self in an a similar situation in the future (For example: I would be happy to broadcast our membership about your upcoming August 3/4 LCMT event if you wish).

If any other answers or help are needed please ask your members to feel free to email me directly on laurence.jitts@verizon.net

What do they charge for two day events such as WGI? Do we have to join PCA?

I'm going to the MT event, but I think two days will be a good enough dose of track time for me.. Especially since I need to drive the car back to Boston. I'd consider it if I was trailering and had more spares in the bin. :)
