Winter tire purchase - anyone have a shop?

Post by austaz » Sun Nov 04, 2012 9:55 pm

Need two sets of winter tires and possibly wheels so the price is adding up. Anyone have a shop that can meet tirerack prices, if so I'm happy to buy locally.

265/70/17 Bridgestone DM-V1 + wheels + tpms for a 2011 ram 1500 (tpms is annoying but inspection in late Jan so it's easier to have them fitted).

215/60-16 Blizzack WS70 + 16" wheels + tpms for a 2012 Nissan Altima.

Don't town fair tires match tire rack prices except for shipping cost? That's what I heard last time I walk into town fair tries.

I also talked to NTB and they also match tire rack prices as well.

Mug:
Define "LOCAL"?
I am in NH and my preferred choice is Carson City TIre in Amherst. Prices are reasonable, mounting and balancing included and their service is tops.

If you are in MA and near Scott Rosnick's place than he is the contact you can inquire...

Need to beware of TR or internet shopping... after adding shipping, and cost for mounting and balancing is where you need to base when comparing apples-to-apples.
I just got a full set of Pirelli Sottozero series II for winter (yes, still leaning towards Italian stuff... ) for my BMW. After consulting with the PIrelli guys during the SEMA show 2 weeks ago and checking prices at TR vs what Carson City offered (with all the services), the delta became about $2 ... 8)

Oh! BTW, Pirelli has a manufacturers mail-in $50 rebate for winter tires good up to Dec-02.

I got to Carson City for Nokians. Steve has always had the best on-the-car prices I've been able to find, and by far.

ive had really good luck with Tirerack and Discount Tire direct when I purchase a wheel/tire package.
Otherwise, you best bet is something local. I've used Maynard & Lesieur with good results too: http://www.tiresupermarket.com/

Not that you asked, but i can not recommend the Michilen X-Ice 2 tires enough. I have them for both my cars. Really nice on the road and get in the bad weather.

How are those pain killers? :) I think that was a vote for the X-Ice 2, and I would 2nd that.

All set, Fastrack came in with a good deal and found me some cheap steel wheel options for winter.

I'm gonna pick up a set of the new Michelin Xi3 snows for my Audi in the next month. Everything I've read is all good about these tires.
