2013 Summit Point
2013 Summit Point
I heard on Sunday that we may be returning to Summit Point in 2013. Does anyone know if the intention is to run the main circuit again, or is it likely we'll run one of the other circuits?

Of all of the plans that are coming together for 2013, there has been no discussion of Summit Point one way or another. Too early to comment. If we do go to Summit, I would only support a return to the main circuit.dradernh wrote:I heard on Sunday that we may be returning to Summit Point in 2013. Thanks, Will.
I'm looking for every reason I can find to justify a trip down for an early November NASA TT on the main circuit. I really enjoyed that track, and may have to go just on general principle.

A little off topic but Watkins Glen twice a year would be awesome and I can almost guarantee a money maker. Can you guys try to push for that or at least ask the members if there is an interest? Evreryone I have talked to wants us to go twice a year.

Just go with another club to get your extra fix. If you time it right you can use the "other club's" event as a solid practice a few weeks before the main event.
In general I like the variety, so with a 7 event calendar I think once is enough. The tracks under consideration for next year are all excellent tracks, just need to figure out how to make it to all of them!

I just hope my schedule lets me go to all 7 next year ......now to figure out how to maximize t90 rules

You would rather do 4 NHMS events instead of 3 NHMS events and 2 WGI events?Chrispy wrote:Just go with another club to get your extra fix. If you time it right you can use the "other club's" event as a solid practice a few weeks before the main event.

No, I'd rather do 3 NHMS events and 4 away tracks - one of which being WGI

Re: 2013 Summit Point
I guess I am not in the know for the proposed away tracks for next year. 4 away events would be nice. The track I am dying to get to is VIR. NASA is probabaly the only other club I wouldn't mind running with other than COM but of course I would love to run VIR with COM. Can we take a poll for the away tracks members would like to go to? That way if there is a considerable amount of interest, we could pursue dates?

Re: 2013 Summit Point
Mr President is still ironing out the schedule for next year so nothing is certain but it is looking like the preference is for 3 home 4 away. As much as I would love to visit VIR with COM, I don't think we would have a very good turn out given that it is 700 miles and 13 hours away. As it is the events that are 400+ miles get a fairly poor turnout and the club risks losing a lot of money, so as always, it is a balance.
I think a poll of tracks that rates everyone's desire to drive and likeliness to attend is a great idea, it would be a great tool for John when planning the season and give a reasonable estimate of likely profit/loss. It is probably too late to be useful for planning 2013 but maybe something that should be looked into.

Re: 2013 Summit Point
How about the fact that we are looking at 8 events next year?
