Thanks to everyone for the help and support at Mosport. We got all the sheetmetal off of the car and had it appraised for repairs,it looks like 6 or 7 thousand dollars to make it track legal and safe, but not street legal (no air bags).
Now for the ? I am picking up a 95 Cobra thats been built for SCCA racing it runs in the American Sedan class. Would like to know what class that would be with COM. Also who does the car number assignments? Is # 55 available? Thanks.Craig & Dianne Herrick.

If it is "near" street legal SPA.

My bad....I was assuming Shelby Cobra....I forget there's Mustang Cobras too.

Check the rules. You could be anywhere from ST to P depending on what the car has/doesn't have.

Glad to hear you won't be gone long. As above, check the rule book, But I think an A Sedan prepped car will be missing things like working lights etc, and may have non-factory wfront and rear windows, which would bump it into PA

Craig, glad to hear you are ok- sheet metal aside. An SCCA AS Mustang will be SPA. The windows would not be lexan- so no PA. The rims and tires they use in AS are actually more restrictive than ST1. The motors are very much warmed over though. No fuel injection and lots of motor guts stuff to make 400+ HP for the front running AS cars. The AS class is kinda of dying because the $ requirement for the front runners is starting to approach GT1 dough. If you are looking for trophies- be carefull. There is a changing of the gaurd (again) in SPA. A 400 HP Mustang may be able to hang in there some of the time, but I fear the class has passed by my 340 HP- and I drive the bag out of it.
Once again, glad you are ok and good luck with the new car. Glad you are keeping the faith with the Mustangs!

what if he removes door and side panels per as rule? this can only be done in sp to accomodate full roll cages.

I have read the rule book and looks like it should run in SPA but possibly PA. The car does have working lights, no interior, full roll cage with side protection, fire supression. The motor is a 5 liter built to AS specs for SCCA the current owner and the driver of the car says about 444 rwhp. Tremic 500 5-speed transmission and a 8.8 rear with 373 gears. Yes we are going to repair the red 94. The new car may be to much for me,if so i would sell it and go back to red 94. See what happens at NHIS

That stuff is easily zip tied into place if need be. AS requires stock dash and glass. They run 16" rims with 245/4516 tires- A decrease from Craig's 17x9 rims I think.

Wow, they're getting 444 rwhp from those motors now. They used to limit cam lift to .500 and head work was regulated. Now I see why the class is dying...too much dough. Must be 15k for a front running motor now.

I'm a little surprised he still has an 8.8 rearend- mostly 9" from what I've seen. Maybe he wasn't going to a lot of different tracks and not needing a gear change. 3.73 gears should be ok for NHIS and LRP.
