WGI vintage GP pics

Post by n1gzd » Mon Sep 17, 2012 9:57 am

Here are my pics of the WGI vintage GP. It is a huge mixture of different things (some of the newer faster cars are later in the series - including pics of most of the formula 1 and Can-AM cars).

Here are some of my favorites:

downtown reinactment start and checker flag:

Allard with 50s mopar v8 hemi:

first group 1 race winners:

action shot of some MG friends tinkering:

These guys are real troopers:

The garage was full of fast awesome cars:

My friend who keeps his car with KTR motorsports in Ayer brought this TOJ:

this was a pretty clean safe event but there was this pretty humerous message to a group waiting on the false grid for the track to clear:

When they finally departed the safety car brought them back in after the warm up lap and there was a another message ("more oil"):

I took tons of pics of the 10 late 70's formula 1 cars (and yes they raced). my favorites were Mario Andretti's John Player Special (with ford cosworth v-10) and Niki Lauda's ferari (with boxer 10 cyl engine). I had a toy John Player Special when I was a kid so it was particularlly fun to see the real one. Here I am posing with it:

Since I am a member of SVRA I had a hot pass credentials which made the event a lot more fun (you have to have member photo ID or non member participant badge and notarized signed liability form).

I can't wait until next year.
