Taking laps at the Ring in Germany
Anyone knows more details and info on how to take laps the the Ring?
I will be in Frankfurt next week and I think the track is about 45 minutes from there.
I once heard. Ryan C. did this, but wanted to get more details on how to go about it.

Stepan, I saw an episode of Top Gear a few years ago and they made it seem like it is a simple as taking some money out of your wallet, supposedly only 15 euros, sounds like a deal and a half! I found this website with a quick google search and it seems to confirm that it is as easy as showing up and having a ball. Hopefully the site is legit. http://goeurope.about.com/od/germany/a/nurburgring.htm
Hope you get to try it, have fun and bring a video camera.

I came across http://nurburgring.org.uk/ when looking for info re: the Ring; it looked fairly comprehensive. The costs quoted there are: 1 lap - €26, 4 laps - €89 & 25 laps - €490, and the 2012 calendar shown there looks like this:

A racing friend rented a new race-spec VW Scirocco from a local outfit last spring for the morning and scared himself silly for 2+ hours. PM me if you want contact details. I'm sure it wasn't cheap but well worth the expense and extra underpants.

Here's a product idea. Tear off underpants! Like what they have for windshields and faceshields. Every lap, you just rip a set off and keep going!extra underpants.

This outfit appears to have quite the selection: http://www.rent-racecar.de/english/prices/index.html.
The Z4 looks like it would be fun, especially now that you're a BMW guy. Those Porsche rental fees & their max insurance liability are breathtaking - and the requirement for an instructor, who needs it?

The ring is apparently on the ropes; more here, http://savethering.org/, and lots of other sites, too.

No convert, just sold the Alfa and waiting for them to come to USA "for real" I.e. no Dodge Dart with Alfa chassis stuff, no Fiat equivalent and certainly no Mazda partnership unless ....
