Mosport videos and pictures
Mosport videos and pictures
Long afternoon session on day one. Appearances made by many. Feel free to go make a sandwich while I am huffing and puffing up the back straight
I cannot figure out how to make that annoying clicking noise stop with the GoPro.

Nice Dave.
The clicking is usually caused by the mount moving in the mounting base. I fixed mine by wedging a small piece of something in the gap as I attach it.

You need to insert the little rubber piece. It should have come with your kit.wizzman wrote:I cannot figure out how to make that annoying clicking noise stop with the GoPro.
Re: Mosport videos and pictures
I have this piece but it seems it is only for when you use one of the adhesive mounts that you click into. I am using the suction cup mount on the inner side of my rear windshield which does not utilize the clicking mechanism.Mick wrote:You need to insert the little rubber piece. You drive a Miata... the car is "clicking and clacking" ... what you'd expect???wizzman wrote: I have this piece but it seems it is only for when you use one of the adhesive mounts that you click into. All kidding aside, I was trying to "follow you" in one of the sessions and I had a hard time. Some of the amazing things you did:
Turn 1: No brakes, just a lift (I lacked cojones in my new ride, felt better tapping a little)
Turn 2: again just a lift (me too, I once shifted into a higher gear and almost wound up on the grass at track out of 2)
Turn 8: No brake, hardly any lift (you lost me there), amazing!
Too bad your TT session got rained, you were "smoking (rather, clicing and clacking ... )" out there!
Cheers!

Holy crap is right! Holding some good speed through the fast corners and acceleration off the slow corners is very impressive! Might be time for the full cage ...cfossum wrote:Holy Crap!ST1Ddope wrote:

I just got to watch the video and hear what you mean about the clicking. Sounds like you have one of the aliens from the movie Signs in your trunk.wizzman wrote:I have this piece but it seems it is only for when you use one of the adhesive mounts that you click into. You were banging out some good laps, sorry about the rain on your TT session.

Videos from Tuesday morning, no time trail video but it was a bust anyway rain started coming down 1/2 way through my first lap.
Interesting comparison between myself and Chad's lap. You can see the different lines and the extra speed. I only make up a bit of ground coming into 5, was similar through 2-3 and 8-10 but the rest he just walked away.
Need to watch it in HD and full screen to be able see decently.

Re: v
Chad gets on the power sooner from the exit of T5 which is way more important that entry speed into T5. For most of the corners, you are getting on the power at the same time or sooner than Chad, but he's putting down more HP.austaz wrote:Interesting comparison between myself and Chad's lap. I just rediscovered this article which I still find interesting when looking at my data. http://www.peterkrause.net/Krause_%26_A ... 20Data.pdf

just over twice the power ...
What I noticed as well is that :
1) I'm coming into a few corners especially 3 I'm not getting wide enough and aligned right so I have more turn in needed.
2) In 9 and 5 I was wasn't using anywhere near the grip available, most corners I'm at similar lateral g load to Chad but these two I'm noticably lower. I feel my car should be able to run a higher lateral load given the weight and setup but talent could be the missing factor. On the braking loads I'm already higher, the acceleration g difference is a joke ....
Been trying to add both mine and Chad's video to the bottom of the data log screen so you have the video along with the data, no so easy since the AIM reply isn't at real speed so matching them is tough.
Re: v
The data (and video) shows Chad's car simply hooking up and launching like a rocket out of turn 5. The speed telemetry goes damn near vertical for an instant which I don't think I've seen before, the 2nd gear acceleration must be brutal. He's definitely more timid on the brakes at the end of the long straight (which from 140 mph is understandable) so some time lost there.naschmitz wrote: Chad gets on the power sooner from the exit of T5 which is way more important that entry speed into T5. Here are a few laps of mine.
For some reason the AIM data XLS export rounded the lap times to tenths. If anyone knows how to force it to export in hundredths or thousandths I'm all ears.
