Subaru BR-Z / Scion FR-S

Post by WillM » Tue Jul 24, 2012 11:23 am

I'm not in the market for another 2-door rwd car, but I like the specs of the BR-Z/FR-S. I have a 2001 Subaru RS 2.5, and while it seems like an ordinary sedan, the low CG of the engine helps give the car much better handling that it seems like it should have. From the reviews, it seems like the boxer-4, rwd, 6-speed coupe combination is a winner.

Anyway, call me a car geek, but I think it is pretty cool that there will be 2 of 'em at our Mosport event. :o)

+1 being a car geek. I love seeing new metal still under warranty getting abused like they were designed to. In the near future I hope to see a real brz STi, it might motivate me to buy one.

So how come you race a Mm.. mmm (I sitll can't say that word!)

Indeed this car packs so much in terms of power to weight ratio that I was surprised to see it in SSA class fully stock.

Prior to getting the "U-boat" I considered getting a BRZ. Maybe next year.

I'm looking forward to seeing this car in action, too. I've told the wife it's likely to be the next car we're getting & all she could think of to say was: Will it be able to go up the driveway in the winter? I said: Sure! 8) :D

My wife bought one about 4 weeks ago. I REALLY like it. With 100 more horsepower and wider tires, it would be a rocketship.

Even with the little engine, it's a blast to drive. Seating position is perfect. Pedals are good, shifter is great. Height adjustable and telescoping wheel are nice features. Steering is crisp. Very sporty car to drive.

With Subaru's turbocharging experience, there will probably be a 300 HP version out at some point.

Last years SEMA show had many of these cars at various vendor booths. Many were turbo'd.
