WTB: e36 Getrag 5 speed
WTB: e36 Getrag 5 speed
In a last ditch effort to help a friend make it to Mosport I'm posting here. Looking for a e36 Getrag 5 speed transmission that was rebuilt or removed running. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: WTB: e36 Getrag 5 speed
I've got calls in to Mario Langsten at VSR 603-228-2888, Kermit Upton at Mountain Auto Sport 802-228-4835, and Mike Morris at Schneller 978-465-2002. They're all at lunch at the moment, so I'll post up when I've got their responses.

Re: WTB: e36 Getrag 5 speed
I got David's call - just can't return it right now because I'm at work.
I don't have one lying around. However, my 325i still worked fine, but it has 192k miles one it, and may not be worth the time investment for a swap.

Re: WTB: e36 Getrag 5 speed
Thanks everyone, I'm on and off flights all day today so Chad was chasing this up for me. Found out yesterday my 5 day old gearbox is dead (they are looking into it since mine isn't the only one with this problem). I checked with Mario and his is a ZF so no good, ill use the one I have in my baasement and hope its good unless a good one pops up for cheap and ready to go.
Re: WTB: e36 Getrag 5 speed
Kermit called back & all he has are ZFs, too; one with 10K & the other with 30K, I think he said. I'm not into the differences with hooking the two types up, but is it a major drama to slip a ZF in there in place of a Getrag? Different driveshafts or transmission input shafts - that sort of thing?austaz wrote:I checked with Mario and his is a ZF so no good.

Re: WTB: e36 Getrag 5 speed
Different driveshaft and shifter not a huge deal but it also makes it harder to get the car back to ITspec legal.
