Vintage auto wreck photo set

Post by Mick » Sat Jun 16, 2012 2:12 pm

Thought some here might find this interesting... The Boston Public Library recently published a large set of auto accident photos taken by a Boston Herald photographer between 1917 and 1956. It's interesting to see how far automotive safety has come.

Trees were smaller in the old days.

Cars hitting houses has always been big news.

Cars / trains not good.

I recognize one of the intersections....

even just seatbelts would have changed many outcomes.

by the way, two cars that I own are represented in those pictures, 1936 Plymouth and 1950 Buick.

I'll skip the photos, but hate to think about being in an accident pre-safety glass.
