NHMS One Videos

Post by Dtangard » Tue May 29, 2012 10:18 pm

All,

I just want to say thank you for a great event at NHMS yesterday and today. The BBQ was great and the driving was even better. Sorry to all those who will need to do repairs after yesterday and today.

Anyways I'll start the video thread..

Good show everyone! Nice event!

Here is my TT session I almost missed the start because I had to turn on the camera. I hear GoPro now has a remote start feature to keep Sam happy...
First time I drive this new ride (2001 BMW 330i) so not bad. Came within 100s of seconds at 1:21-something from SSB track record (Nick F. you still on the record map! ), but I already know where I can pick-up tons of more speed after watching this
Click on full screen as I did inboard shot for the students.

Haha, ouch!
Considering an E46 is 1100 lbs heavier than even a stock Miata, I'd say coming within 4 seconds of a Miata "race car" (yes, I did resort to quotes) on Hoosier A's is a very-very good time.

Stephan, great run. As long as the track is dry, I would suspect you will crush my record in August.

I just wish I had put up a faster time, but my car started popping out of gear during the last practice session and TT...RIP 325i.

I don't have any video (I'm superstitious about it), but I do have a data chart from my TT lap. I was comparing data with Julie and Jeff Baker all weekend, and it's quite helpful. If you don't have a data system, get one!

Looking good, Derek.

I watched the first video, then the second, and as soon as the 2nd video started to play I asked myself "What the hell, did he install a rollbar during the event?".

Great line through T9-T10. I would adjust your exit of T6 (the bowl) a bit to make sure you stay within the white line at exit. All of the camber goes away as soon as you cross that line and you can see in the video that it upsets your car a bit and the speedometer even jumps around a bit. Just a suggestion. You don't want to get called out there!

I made the mistake of going too far over that white line at the exit of T6 once, the car really did not like that! A wheel width over or so doesn't seem to be so bad though.

Here's my meager contribution.

Time trial:
Found that 345's in 60 degree weather need at least 3 laps to get warmed up :)

I lack the fancy telemetry and such...but I think the last 4 laps were 1:17.5, 1:18.0, 1:18.0, 1:17.8

Will,

Thanks for the advice. I was struggling in the bowl both days. I was driving under the motto, "the club rented the whole track." What about my line through 11 and 12? I feel like I am giving up some speed through there.

I definitely need to mount my camera a little better. In the second video, you can tell the camera is focused in on the bar and not the track. The suction mount to the rear window is tough now with the cage and oversize mirror.
