repairs - not sure yet what the options are.

That must have been a scary ride!
Glad you are OK.
Do they put braking markers on runways?
I hope it is repairable.

Glad you're OK Rebecca. You'll have to start wearing your HANS when flying.

Helluva way to make the front page... Is the damage covered by insurance?

Re: yes that was me in the news
That's too bad, it's good to hear you walked away. Were you flying a Tiger? I guess they can be a bit of a handful. It was windy yesterday too.
I used to practice on windy days just to make sure I was always in a comfort zone when carrying passengers. I tried to keep a 10 knot difference between what I would do solo and what I would consider carrying passengers in. So I went to practice at Hanscom one day and the wind was gusting 30+ knots or so about 45 degrees to the runway. My tie down was right up next to the taxiway on the airforce side of the base. During preflight I watched a yankee taking off and he lost control about 10-15 feet above the runway and cartwheeled. It looked like he didn't let the plane swing into the wind when he lifted off. Later when I took off I looked down and could see there was pretty much nothing left of that plane that was recognizable.
That was 25 years ago, but it's hard to forget. So many little mistakes in life are unpunished but the balance seems that sometimes things can go very badly indeed.
I hope you keep flying...

Hey Dan, don't you have a nice plane for sale that you could make Rebecca a good deal on?

It is a Grumman AA-1B (like a Yankee, sort of a 2 seat Tiger).
It was not windy. more details and pictures next week.
