i tried A6's once on my 944 they two only lasted about two laps and fell right off that car scales out at 2400 LBS . i olny will run new R6's now . i'm not a fan of used tires at all . but on the other hand my car doesn't put out 600 HP like Greg's BMW does !betelgeuse wrote:Nick,
My 99 m3 weighted under 3100 lbs (3090 I think) with the spare removed and about 1/3 tank of gas.
I tried the A6s once and I think they overheated after the first lap. My times fell off a lot the second and 3rd lap.

Re: Used Tires?
Hey everyone - thanks for the feedback on the tires.
Another question - date code, how important? I'm looking at a set of once used Hankook z214 c71's with 2709 date code (manufactured 27th week of 2009). Apparently, they were stored in bags in some guy's basement. Assuming all of that is true, do I have to be concerned running tires that are 3 years old? How much slower are older tires, assuming just 1 heat cycle and full tread depth? Will they wear too quickly?
Dave and I blew through a bunch of v710's with 08 date code over the last 2 years - It's hard to say whether they went "too fast" because we don't know about 2011 or 2012 v710's would have felt like, or if it was the 325i's body roll and minimal camber, or our driving style...
