Actually, I was surprised when I installed a 10 lb. flywheel in the 240Z that downshifts *were* easier and quicker vs. with the stock 23 lb. unit. Wasn't expecting that, but there you go. No ECU, just 45mm 3x2 carbs :P

After some research it appears the ECU is the major source of the problem. Unfortunatly the tuner ran into some problems with the reprogram and I have not driven the car yet this year. I may not make any events this season, in any case I also need to alter pedal height, are there any products available to raise or add spacers to the brake pedal? I made my own spacer for the Hyundai but I would like something a bit more refined for the Mazda.

Try Ken at Protege Garage. or 1-847-736-1635. Many Mazda 3 performance parts may have something.

ECU is back in car, retuned by Dynotronics, big improvement. All calls to PG go to answering service, I will keep trying. Car will not be ready for this season but at least I am headed in the right direction. Thanks to all for advice.
