Besides....Almost everyone in ST4 that wasn't running on Hoosiers last year will be this year.

I blame Wasilko. If that dude had just stayed on his R888/RA1/NT-01 street tires none of this would have happened. :)
I blame you. You started it at Monticello, I think. I would have been content to stay on RA01s!
Hey Miata boys: go biker in another topic ... this is (er.. was) ALFA stuff and follow-up certainly NOT MIATA stuff...

Seems my new ride maybe in SSB .. again stay tuned. Oh, I may use Hoosiers there but really, which tires is best overall for what WE do?

My former experince in 10 years has been between Yokohama, Kuhmo, Toyo, Nitto, Hankook and Hoosier since I've used them all:
Yokohama AR-32 = noisy in dry slowest from all tires I used, excellent in rain
Kuhmo = great in the beginning, fading fast as it past half way of it's life (I mean really fast)
Toyo RA01 = best tire overall, durable reliable predictable. Great set for practice: Now according to many seems to be about 1 sec slower than Hoosier at NHMS chic/chic
NITTO = just as good as Toyo a bit faster buit not as durable
Hankook = Second best after Hoosier. WIll gave me the tip as is was very close to hoosier only cheaper laster to find out (accroding to him) the cycles wore too fast. I still liked this as my best tires ever.
Hoosier = great tire if you don't flat spot. they are "sensitive" ... I used for last practice and TT only and felt more "confident" to go more aggressive (faster) but I did not see a major improvement from the Hankooks.

This is all just an opinion, but I think the V710 is the better tire for the heavier cars than Hoosier. I found Hoosiers do not forgive sins like V710's do. The heavier cars tend to slide around more than the lighter cars do. Hoosiers hate that and will punish you with an ugly burn rate and need to be replaced more often. Hankooks are very good initially, but cycled out way too fast for me...I got maybe 5 or 6 until they were almost useless on my mustang. V's tended to stay sticky for much longer...but when they were finally cycled out and done...they were done.....doesn't matter how much tread is on there. You might as well drive in the rain. The plus side is that on the heavier car you would likely shred that tire to the cord before they get to that point.

...and it is Wasilko's fault...not mine.

Interesting Troy. That would also reflect about a $70/tire compared to Hoosier. I assume V710 is the Kuhmo one.

Last Monticello race by COM was My 2010 (see pic below) .. you guys still arguing?

The big question is what will his screen name change to?

Has anyone asked "Why did you sell the Alfa?"

Good question .. and no. Most of the responses were "You will regret this", and as explained in my notice, I had tons of fun, won many championships, set track records with this car, so I am happy for that and that it will now go to a place where it will be fully restored and further kept for prosperity.
I could not have asked for a better outcome for both myself and this Alfa.
It's time to move on. I love doing classroom instruction and I'd still like to have fun on the track with something different, modern, etc.
I am sorry the red Alfa will not be at the track anymore, it seems like a loss of character but I am still the same Stephan! 8)
I do not plan to change the avatar or screen-name. I will keep until Alfa returns to America ... :)

If I get all the things I am thinking about on this next ride, you guys will love the vanity plate ... but I sitll need to get it so sorry for the suspense ...

I went to see the car after passing by NHMS on Monday during the track event to say "hi" to many friends there. It's a cool looking car and I look forward to try it out. Be ready sometime this week after installing steel braided brake lines, etc.
Here's the first glimpse to many:

Congrats on the E46. They are great cars with great build quality and finish. The E46's issues are well known on the forums now, so most of the problems you will run into will have long been discussed and solutions well documented. In contrast.....The forum content for my wife's 08 335xi is still in the "hey, how can I get my HID's to glow more blue" phase.
