Just so you all know
Folks, the Alfa Romeo has been SOLD! ....Also sold was the SUV and trialer, all in ONE package.
I'm fine, I'm fine ... big consolation is the new owners are Italian (live in CT) and they have their own private restoration shop and so it could not have been a better choice considering.
Now looking for a "lesser car" but rest assured it will NOT be a Miata.
I particularly love the new Subaru BRZ but that is out of the budget at the moment, maybe next year. Ideally let's hope Alfa Romeo comes back to USA but not in the form of the new Dodge Dart (that was an insult ... to both marques)
Looking at a "Germanic device" today belonging to a COM member! Hope his daily driver will be something I can do track events with. If so SSA look out!
April test day could be a good call for a shakedown. We'll see!

Would it help if you referred to it as a "Miamiamiata"?

Mick I saw that... I need a sedan to drive the family and still do track events. Criteria is preferably rear wheel drive.Mick wrote:What about this?

I have been chatting with Troy and Kevin F. about BMW ... E36/E46/E39 (that one out) 328, 330 (no M series) something fun and still street driveable.
Other options is non-turbo Subarus.
Still looking.

Really the only answer is a Mustang, it could tow a Formula Ford and store all the tools, spare mounted tires, camping gear etc. that you need for a weekend. Anything newer then a fox doesn't count though.
Plus, since you're a Steve ( sort of? ) and we have lost both Steve McQueen and Steve jobs - you could start wearing turtle necks while you drive it.

You're making the right choice Stephan in putting the Alfa out to pasture.
Besides....Almost everyone in ST4 that wasn't running on Hoosiers last year will be this year.
I blame Wasilko. If that dude had just stayed on his R888/RA1/NT-01 street tires none of this would have happened.

Stephan, Say it ain't so!!!! Now we are down to just me and Mark against all those damn Miatas. Poor Mark is the only non Mazda, he may get a complex. Good luck on finding a new ride that fits your needs. We'll miss you in ST4.

Sad we won't see the car at our events anymore.
I recommend an RX8 with sort of 4 doors as a replacement. You can't go Italian to German, that's just not allowed. You need to get into something that works.

Re: Just so you all know
Well don't count me out .. yet. I am still "shopping" for a car and may well get someting that will start in SS class and wind up in ST if still feasible for street driving. I am not choosing my class so that it will fit in a particular class but with all the changes in technology everything seems to boil down to ST-3 and 4 after the mods.imgon wrote:Stephan, Say it ain't so!!!! Thanks for many (you know who you are) providing me input on the next wheels. Amazing the networking, very proud to be a member of this Club.

Ha! I giggled when the said I moved from NH to ME becasue NH was getting too hectic ... hummm NH pop 1.2 million while I grew up in Rio pop 8 + millions and then lived in Montreal pop 4 million. Moved to Nashua (pop 80K) and now Merrimck (20K) and this is as rural as I can muster.brucesallen wrote:here you go

I blame you. You started it at Monticello, I think. I would have been content to stay on RA01s!TroyV wrote:You're making the right choice Stephan in putting the Alfa out to pasture.
