i keep thinking about moving to kernersville in north carolina . my brother lives there it's only about 30 minutes from VIR . the thing about moving out of my area is the cost . then trying to set up shop in a new area were no one knows me . i had to say some thing about the snow ! today it's snowing we got about 4 inches so far . the down side is if you own a shop were people are then you get people steeling crap .how does it go? the more people the more work comes in but the more people steel crap if you know what i mean .

When I moved out to the "country" to open a repair shop, everyone said I'd starve in a year. That was 20 years ago. Treat people fair, give them quality service..word gets around pretty quick.. I live next to my shop,so security is 24/7..and when I'm not home..big nasty dogs make a wonderful deterrent! VIR area would be a nice relocation.

I live in Stokesdale, NC which is right next to Kernersville. My house is 60 miles to VIR -- VIR and Kernersville are on opposite sides of me, so I'd say Kernersville is 70 miles to VIR.

There aren't many race shops around this area as they are all located closer to the NASCAR black hole in the Charlotte area, about 100 miles away. There is a large training facility, Forsyth Tech, in Winston-Salem where you could hire some apprentices.

i started looking for a new shop out of the new haven area 3 weeks ago . WHY ? because of all the crap that the ass holes steel around here . well nast night sam's car was 4 buildings down the street at a good friends shop getting the backing plate for the right side motor mount done because he has the tool that holds the cams in place to do the job . low and behold some POS broke into sams car and stole the new suspension that was for the car .
i can't get out of this shit hole fast enough !!!!!
Sam i am very sorry about this !
i'm cleaning up the work that this in my shop right now and getting the hell out of new haven area .

I know how badly you feel David. I appreciate your efforts to provide the receipts to your friend's insurance company. I guess the good news is that there was no damage to the car itself How did they break into it though?
Oh ya, gone in 30 seconds, lol.
I have talked to Protege Garage about having another coil over set up shipped this week, so once the motor side plate and mount is finished, it should be a matter of a day. The rebuilt turbo can wait until the original blows! At 105,000 miles, I would say I am getting the most out of the original!
For the edification of others reading the forum, David is doing a few minor things like replacing the Mazdaspeed coilovers, which are pretty much beat (80,000 miles!), doing the normal brake/rotor stuff, replacing the right side engine plate to solve the motor mount problems I was having, doing a spin on filter conversion with sandwich adapter for connection to my gauges, and replace the shift lever seal at the top of the transmission.
David, not to worry, BUT get the hell out of that hell hole, the blight from NYC and New Haven is taking over your area.

Many Walmart stores in NH sells the Russian Tulammo 223 rounds for under $5 a box. They will only sell it to out of state residents if you have a LTC of FID cards. If you want to go up to Kittery, we do not check ID for ammo, and we have just about any flavor of 223 starting at about $7 per box for the american ammo. We often have deals on bulk ammo to, but you need to add the 5% sales tax. I would hang on to the 45-70 ammo, that stuff can be pretty pricey.

S&W 500? At $5/round..I wouldn't want to waste my money on some scum perp. Pull out the trusty 12 gauge and 00 buck. Inexpensive and thorough.. Better yet, relocate to a safe neighborhood. :sunny:

You can file a civil suit for the damages but you'd get nothing out of it as I doubt he has any money.

civil suit ? that will cost me even more money ! and then as you know he has nothing so then what ? the courts will say he has to pay . right ? ok then for the rest of his life i will have to chase his ass to try and get it . or he moves back to puerto rico then i'm even more ass out !
it was like 7 years ago when this women ran into the back of my car . she totaled it ! i spend days in the hospital . she had no insurance the car was not registered and she had no drivers licence . she did not work and her 3 kids were on state . she told my lower i an't got nothing you can't get nothing ! she was right !
i was thinking of loading the 12 gauge
but i don't want any of the stray shot to hit any of the cars in the parking lot . i also want some thing that i could shoot right thru a car and out the other side and hit the mother **** .
i have been looking for the last 3 or so weeks for a new shop ! i'm looking in the danbury area . the cost of a move will put me out of racing this year but i realy have no other choice .

The area I'm moving to in June has lots of rich executives that I'm sure could use your expertise: Simsbury, Avon, Canton, Farmington, W Hartford...and the only theives you'll likely encounter there are racoons and bears.

that's why i'm looking in the danbury area . new haven , bridgeport , and waterbury all tend to be more blue collar areas with lower incomes . over the past 20 / 25 years big business have been moving out of the new haven area making it more and more like bridgeport and waterbury . alot of the people that live in the danbury area work in NY city so there is a higher class of people there its also closer to LRP and Monticello .
i have been spending lots of money lately on equipment and tools to build chassis and cages for cars . over this past winter we built 11 cages for racers so i would like to move closer to race tracks .
